PSPChrome v1.0 Released

greg | February 8, 2009

It’s a web app, it’s a portal, it’s a chromed out browser functioning within the PSP’s integrated web browser. I’m not really sure what to call it, but I can tell you this — Damiaan Reijnaers’ PSPChrome is pretty dope, especially if you make use of regular Internet surfing from your hand held. And not only that, anyone can use it — hacked PSP or not.

Download the PSPChrome archive, unzip it, and copy the files to the root of your memory stick. Call the PSP Internet Browser up and enter the following address: file:/pspchrome/index.html. You should probably bookmark that too. Enjoy!

PSPChrome v1.0:

  • Browsing with more tabs
  • Load bookmarks from your PSP
  • Codes for the address bar
  • Donating for NL/BE/UK
  • Listening to music while browsing
  • Mailing with your PSPunk
  • Credits page added
  • PSPWoord integration
  • Tools added

PSPWoord v1.5: A Web App PSP Text Editor

greg | January 11, 2009

Back to the apps — Damiaan Reijnaers’ PSPWoord.

PSPWoord is a web-enabled text editor that resembles Microsoft Word 2003, and with that said, PSPWoord doesn’t require the installation of a custom firmware. Anyone & everyone can make use of this web app.

Your PSPWoord documents are saved in a “.doc” format to a remote location and can later be downloaded to your memory stick; of course, you must be within range of a WiFi connection to do that.

PSPWoord v1.5 changes:

  • New look when you’re loading or saving a file.
  • New servers, first we had 4… now 10!
  • Saved .doc files before update will not be lost.

Japanese Flashcard Review Update!

greg | August 15, 2006

Its been awhile since we’ve heard from Phil and his Javascript Japanese Flashcards which aid in the learning of, you guessed it – Japanese! The latest installment features more words and the ability to display multiple words which have the same meaning in the same deck. Of course all the previous features still exist from the last release, which can be read here.

Quoted from the README:

To get started, you just need to unzip the japanese.zip file, and if you’re reading this, I assume you’ve made it that far already. Then just place all the files onto your memory stick. Personally, I put the entire “japanese” folder at the root level of the memory stick. Then you fire up the PSP web browser and
enter the URL “file:/japanese/index.html” (unless you put it somewhere else).

A few problems to take note of:

  1. If the vocab reviewer doesn’t fit on one page, you might need to set your text size to Normal and/or your display mode to Normal.
  2. If you’re loading the vocab page with all the words so far, it takes a little while to get started because it needs to first shuffle the deck (which takes a while with that many cards)

The attached zip file contains a few html documents (JavaScript) and 1×1 pixel images.

Happy learning!

PSP Weather Feed

greg | June 29, 2006

This is quite cool… it was emailed to us a few days ago from a guy by the name of Keith Goldrick. I finally had a moment to try it out and this works very well – it will probably serve a useful purpose for many folks out there in the US. It’s simply a collection of HTML pages formatted for the PSP which pull certain pieces of information from weather.com. It will display current infrared satellite images over all of the U.S. and has current Doppler radar and temperatures displayed. Also it will fetch local weather forecasts for future weather conditions – quite handy…

PSP Weather Feed Screenshot

It works on all firmware versions; you’ll require Device Hook Sample Launcher or Links2 in order to use it on FW 1.0 and 1.50 (you need to emulate the 2.0+ web browser). And of course you’ll have to be within range of a WiFi connection.

Installation is incredibly simple, copy the ‘w’ directory into /PSP/COMMON on your memory stick, and call up the web browser specifying this path: “file:/psp/common/w/s.html” – bookmark it, and you’re good to go.

Take a glance at the ‘Readme-instructions.txt’ for more info…
