PSPBilliards 0.2 Released — Pool for the PSP
greg | August 21, 2008
Vastly improved over its initial Homebrew Idol release, developer slicer4ever reappears with a fresh new version of PSPBilliards.
Coded from the ground up with precise math calculations and pure skill, slicer4ever has indeed achieved what he sought out for — a fully playable homebrew version of 8 & 9-ball.
Most notably, version 0.2 introduces preliminary support for multiplayer over Ad Hoc.

New features:
- ball’s now rotate
- background music scanned from music folders
- score card (idea from halokilla; I believe, not 100% sure, correct if wrong)
- multiple pool tables
- all controls work
- Ad Hoc; yes that’s right, you can now play against your buddy on their PSP (note: this is not 100% stable and may crash, and it is kinda laggy, please bare with it.)
- much more…

Geoffrey? Break out Lucille. Here’s a first… 8-ball & 9-ball in fine PSP homebrew form. Coming from slicer4ever and destined for Homebrew Idol — PSPBilliards.

Some things/bugs you should be aware of:
- balls sometimes glitch around (I have a theory as to why but tracking it down is the hard part)
- credits screen not fully implemented
- L and R do not work; I know it said to select next ball, but it wasn’t at the top of my get done before competition list, so sorry.
With that in mind, check back for updates. Nice work, slicer.

Comments (10)Pixel Attack 0.3 Released
greg | April 30, 2008
Slicer4ever steps his game up with Pixel Attack version 0.3.
Allow me to play it out for you… You’re Jack Mason (a pixel), who must survive by running (maneuvering) around the forest/bush (screen) while avoiding (dodging) Thomas Burns, Doc Hawkins, and Walter Cole (enemy circles) from hunting and killing your sorry ass. That’s my ‘94 analogy.
Although packing a “not 1.5″ directory, Pixel Attack 0.3 — in its current state — is not compatible with the Slim. MP3 support requires kernel mode access; you will need the 1.50 kernel add on for Phat only. Dark_AleX’s Time Machine may work for you, but I’ve yet to try.
Pixel Attack 0.3 changes:
- added mp3 support directly from music folder
- added more background effects
- rainbow effect
- life ball (increases life)
- psp-hacks splash screen

Definitely improved over its last release is slicer4ever’s Pixel Attack version 0.2.
It’s survival of the fittest — dodge the rapid falling/bouncing circles while maneuvering your own coloured circle around the full screen. Stay alive, stay safe, score the highest score. Have fun!
Pixel Attack 0.2 changes:
- added background explosions
- added background music
- re-wrote code
- major overhaul of physics
- controls are far better and more interactivity
- move across entire screen now
- Circles more estatic
- Name in highscore
- Both 1.5 and non-1.5 included

Thanks for tuning back in… Next up in our Homebrew Idol competition is slicer4ever with his newly crafted game — Pixel Attack.
The concept: simple, and the game play: addictive. All ya gotta do is maneuver around avoiding the mass pixel attack while racking up the highest possible score.
And by the way, for those out of the PSP-Hacks Homebrew Idol loop: the deadline date is May 30th, have your homebrew submitted by then; the prize is $500 (CDN) and PSdonkey’s 3.90 M33 “phat” PSP with 2GB card, charger, and case. Optionally you may add a splash screen promoting our competition.
The packaged version below is compiled for firmware 1.50.
