Its been awhile since we’ve heard from the PSP Rhythm Team, nonetheless here is v6.0!
Lots of new features and enhancements:
- New user interface with programming grid, graphical knobs for parameters, oscilloscope.
- Sample Loading from Pattern Mode with up to 1000 sample folders with 1000 samples each.
- New skin format and support for up to 1000 skins.

- Lots of bug fixes and performance enhancements.
And for newcomers to the PSP homebrew scene, here’s a little excerpt:
Inspired by classic drum machines such as the Linndrum and Roland TR-series, PSP Rhythm has been created to use a similar simple, yet effective sequencer.
PSP Rhythm uses a parameter feature that enable you to change the pitch, volume, balance, start, end times, cutoff and resonance per step to create moving, changing melodies and effects. This control over your sounds will give you much more creative freedom.
The on board Bass Line synthesizer in PSP Rhythm is similar to the classic Roland TB-303. TB-303 style features such as Accent and Slide are available. The real time control of the Cutoff and Resonance give you that authentic “Acid” sound that made the TB-303 Bass Line Synthesizer so famous.
Included effects are: Distortion, Slicer, Delay, Time Stretch, High/Low Pass Filter and Monophonic Sample Mode.
So, with all that said, fetch PSP Rhythm v6.0 below and drop a beat y’all!

Comments (20)PSP Rhythm 5.0 Released!
greg | April 24, 2006
The PSP Rhythm team are pleased to announce the release of PSP RHYTHM 5.0!
PSP Rhythm 5.0 is a homebrew music application which has 4 distinct features.
The first is the sample sequencer which enables you to arrange standard .wav file samples into beats, rhythms, and melodies in pattern format. Sample control includes FLAMS, REVERSE, PITCH, VOLUME, BALANCE, START TIME, and END TIME. These parameters can be stored with different settings on each step providing you the ability to make very complex music.
The second feature is a realtime Roland TB-303 bass line style synthesizer which can be played along with the sample sequencer. The bass line synth has all of the original synthesizer’s controls, such as ACCENT, SLIDE , CUTOFF, and RESONANCE .
The third feature is the NEW EFFECTS UNITS which include DISTORTION, SLICER, DELAY, LOWPASS FILTER, and MONOMODE. These effects can be combined for some extensive audio manipulation. The lowpass filter is special because it can be controlled per sound via PATTERN mode which essentially gives you control of up to 15 separate sample filters!
The final feature is a song mixer where you can chain up to 512 patterns together along with mixing each individual sound volume per song step (much like a mixing desk). Once you have created your audio masterpiece, you can render it to a .wav file for listening or outside processing. PSP RHYTHM 5.0 has grown to be a full audio production suite in the palm of your hand.
And before you ask – yes, PSP Rhythm is compatible with firmware versions: 1.00 / 1.50 / 2.0 / 2.50 / 2.60.

Comments (22)PSP Rhythm 4.0 Released
greg | March 10, 2006
It’s been awhile since their last update; however, today the PSP Rhythm Team have released v4.0!
For new comers to the PSP homebrew scene, PSP Rhythm is inspired by classic drum machines such as the Linndrum, Roland TR-series, and now the modern Elektron MachineDrum. It uses the simple 16 step style drum sequencer and incorporates the use of audio sample playback instead of drum synthesis.
PSP Rhythm v4.0 also works on ALL firmware versions!

New in v4.0 (from their website):
With the release of version 4.0 a Bass Line synthesizer similar to a Roland TB-303 has been added to make this the most versatile homebrew drum machine for the PSP. TB-303 style features such as Accent and Slide are available, along with the real-time control of the Cutoff and Resonance you can get that authentic “Acid” sound that made the TB-303 so famous.

The PSP Rhythm Team has just released v3.0 of their popular homebrew drum machine!

For use on the Sony PSP with Firmware ver. 1.0, 1.5 or 2.0
PSP Rhythm is a homebrew drum machine for the Sony Playstation Portable.
Inspired by classic drum machines such as the Linndrum and Roland TR-series, PSP Rhythm has been created to use the simple, yet effective 16 step style drum sequencer. PSP Rhythm incorporates the use of audio sample playback instead of drum synthesis. PSP Rhythm has been directly influenced by one of our favorite modern drum machines, the Elektron MachineDrum. The most significant is our use of “parameter locks” (as used by the MachineDrum). Parameter locks enable you to change the pitch, volume, balance, start and end time per step to create moving, changing melodies and effects. This control over your sounds will give you much more creative freedom and allow you to not only use drums, but to use instruments in your music.
New features in 3.0:
- Reverse Drums
- Start and End times per drum hit
- Wave File output!
