greg | August 9, 2009
There are a number of talented hardware modders in the scene, whether their mods be practical or not, that’s another story… Whatever the case, you can’t hate… Well yeah, you can, it’s the Internet. But before sounding ignorant, you gotta check yourself: do you possess these skills? Flasheur indeed does:

Comments (14)Steampunk-style PSP Fallout/BioShock Mod
greg | August 4, 2009
Thomson09, a pspgen local, has unveiled his stylistic steampunk-lookin’ PSP Fallout/BioShock mod. Forget flashy LEDs and all that played out nonsense — you haven’t seen a mod of this fashion, not since AcidMods laid it down…
At first glance you’d think Thomson09 just found an old dirty PSP collecting dust in his attic or something…

Then the video…

Comments (47)PSP IRDA JOY Mod v2.1
greg | June 10, 2009
You may remember reading this a couple months back, or maybe you don’t… Perhaps your memories are a bit fuzzy, after all it happened on 4/20. But whatever the case — watch…
Buzz’s IRDA Joy Box Project is the reverse scenario of FuSa GamePad; instead of using your PSP as a new joystick/gamepad on the PC, you’re using an old DB9 joystick (Atari, Amiga, Amstrad, etc…) on your PSP-1000. That little black box takes care of all the dirty work.
The box uses the IRDA port of your PSP-1000. You need two AA batteries to power it and once everything is set, you’ll be rocking the emulators with your old school joystick, such as PSPHUGO, PSPCAP32, or PSP2600.

Check this: Folklord36’s PSP Laptop Model… It’s a work-in-progress, but in its current .5 state, it definitely showcases innovation and originality at its finest… What you see below is a PSP with the LCD screen and speakers relocated to the topside, as well an Xbox 360 Chatpad fitted elegantly where the screen was once viewed.

Comments (60)IrDA Joystick Mod/Hack for the PSP-1000
greg | April 20, 2009
When emulating all those old-school joystick-enabled consoles using only the standard set of PSP controls isn’t enough, Buzz and ZX-81 change your whole perspective on things with their IrDA Joystick Mod.
These two videos mark the first beta prototype of both the hardware and software. Buzz designed the PCB and programmed the PIC micro-controller, while ZX has coded up the PSP Magic and Pong demos.
Keep in mind: this mod only functions on PSP-1000 (Fat) models as it comes correct with an infrared port.
Here’s a video demonstration of PSP Magic and PSP Pong (written by Hardrive4u) modified to work with the IrDA joystick PCB –
ZX also mentions a cleaned up and more compact designed version with great new features, such as an integrated battery (AAA) pack, will be showcased soon.

Should you want to design your own, check Buzz’s site for PCB schematics, source code, and other documentation.

Shown immediately below is the parallel memory stick mod; adding extra storage without any added bulkiness. That’s two inserted memory sticks with two integrated switches flipping between your two gigabyte-packed sticks.
And another dope one — the PSP [mini] Laptop –
There are a few others — sound reactive LED mods, internal SD card mod — and more images/videos/details following the source link. Good lookin’ out, folklord.

greg | May 14, 2008
Grab your screwdriver, soldering iron, and loudspeaker… It’s time to pump up the volume like Christian Slater. The PHT (PspHackersTeam) have compiled a [french] tutorial detailing the necessary steps to do just that…
Passing the source URL through Google Translate will help the non-français speaking folk out. Lets just hope that’s accurate enough. So please, exercise caution should you attempt this mod.
