PSPIRC v1.1.2 Released

greg | January 24, 2008

Before the instant messaging era there was IRC—Internet Relay Chat. Till this day it remains quite popular amongst a diverse range of Internet hardcores. Some are on the prowl; I shouldn’t say for what… Others converse sharing ideas/plans in a conference or brainstorming-style manner. While some simply enjoy racking up a ridiculous idle time and later boasting about it. Whatever the case, ZX-81 is making it happen with yet another PSP IRC update.

PSPIRC v1.1.2 changes:

  • No more lag/issue with IR keyboard!
  • /notice message are now properly displayed
  • Add /clear command

By the way, once installed and you’re set to start chatting, join irc.dashhacks.com—we’re in channel #psp-hacks.

ZX-81 Homebrew Updates — PSP GNU Chess v1.0.3 & PSPIRC v1.1.1

greg | November 17, 2007

Behold! It’s that time of day when ZX-81 crawls out of his virtual cave and shares his plentiful homebrew updates to the masses.

First we’ll take a quick peak at PSPIRC v1.1.1. It’s a minor update correcting a bug in the login menu. No longer should your PSP freeze when pressing the enter key while script menu is selected. And that’s that.

Next is one of my recently developed addictions, PSP GNU Chess v1.0.3. It uses GNU Chess version 5.07 for the Artificial Intelligence, and ZX-81 has crafted a graphical user interface on top of it.

PSP GNU Chess v1.0.3 changes:

  • IR Keyboard support
  • Add Option to highlight last move
  • Display captured and promoted pieces
  • Add virtual keyboard to enter PGN filename
  • Load and Save PGN game file
  • Fix joypad/pad speed issue

PSPIRC v1.0.6 Released: A PSP IRC Client

greg | September 17, 2007

Buck ‘em! ZX-81 cocks his homebrew hammer and continues firing off releases. Up now is PSPIRC — a basic Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client for the PlayStation Portable. Release notes:

It is mainly based on the IRC engine written by Danzel, and the user interface i wrote for PSPSSH.

The IR keyboard support is based on the work of Harald Fielker (author of the PSP IR Keyboard Library) with a new patch from Craig to support Sprint PCS IR keyboard.

This software is distributed under GNU V2 License, see GPLV2.txt file for all details and information about it.

It has been developed on linux for Firmware 1.5 and 3.40-OE, and for the IR keyboard part it has been tested using a Targus Universal IR Wireless keyboard.

PSPIRC v1.0.6 changes:

  • Add all iso8859-1 characters in danzeff virtual keyboard
  • All text fonts are now compatible with iso8859-1 characters
  • Bug fix in IR keyboard .ini files with UTF8 specification (for example mapping string such as “u+c3a0″ didn’t work properly)
  • New targus mapping with french characters mapped from ALT 1 up to ALT – (see targus-include.ini file for more details)
