Developer and Homebrew Idol contestant, Hardhat, has released an Internet ranking-enabled version of Resonate.
New readers should know Resonate is a fast-paced undersea rail shooter with one primary objective: become King of the Ocean. And now prove you’re king shit by sharing your high score online. Further enhancements have also made their way into version 0.45 — check ‘em below…

Comments (14)theb1rdm4n has a brand new Homebrew Idol-ified version of his shooter up for grabs… After playing a few intensified rounds and calling it quits, you’ll soon be re-launching “Birdman’s Shooter” with the mentality of destroying your previous high score; it’ll do that. I’m going back in for more, right after taking this opportunity to calm myself and share version 1.3 with y’all first.

What’s theb1rdm4n gotta say?
It is loosely based off of the game Galaga. The game pits you against endless waves of enemies that get harder as the game goes on. Every 8 levels there is a bonus level and the enemies get harder, but the enemy count resets back to level one and continues to grow every level. If you perfect a bonus level you get an extra life and bonus points. Scores grow exponentially as the current level and difficulty increase. Scores are also slightly based off of your accuracy, so the more accurate you are, the higher your score will be.

Comments (17)Royale hittin’ homebrew homers with yet another PSP-Maps release. Version 1.1 introduces experimental and basic KML support; this allows for additional display information on maps, such as: directions, points of interest, custom markers, etc…
And I should mention Royale’s PSP-Maps (v1.0+) is an official entry in our ongoing Homebrew Idol competition.

Comments (15)Slicer4ever steps his game up with Pixel Attack version 0.3.
Allow me to play it out for you… You’re Jack Mason (a pixel), who must survive by running (maneuvering) around the forest/bush (screen) while avoiding (dodging) Thomas Burns, Doc Hawkins, and Walter Cole (enemy circles) from hunting and killing your sorry ass. That’s my ‘94 analogy.
Although packing a “not 1.5″ directory, Pixel Attack 0.3 — in its current state — is not compatible with the Slim. MP3 support requires kernel mode access; you will need the 1.50 kernel add on for Phat only. Dark_AleX’s Time Machine may work for you, but I’ve yet to try.

Comments (8)Lets get reeeady for Hooomebreeewww Idoool!
Inspired by Tron is titch.ryan’s “Light Cycle Clone.” Need I say more? Ok, maybe two more things — single player AI works, but is to be further improved; and two player mode, you use the same PSP, as instructed in the screenshot…
Should you find yourself asking, “what’s this Tron business about?” Then I would suggest you be enrollin’ at U of G, kiddo.
Leave your feedback via the comments or release thread.

Comments (18)From developer HardHat is something new for Homebrew Idol… Resonate — a fast paced undersea rail shooter. While on your oceanic journey to become king thresher shark, you must destroy enemy fish, collect power-ups, and of course stay alive. Not only that — go online to share custom levels and compete for the #1 ranked spot.

Resonate features:
Keep in mind; this is an early, non-final version of the game. A polished version is on the way.

Comments (5)Definitely improved over its last release is slicer4ever’s Pixel Attack version 0.2.
It’s survival of the fittest — dodge the rapid falling/bouncing circles while maneuvering your own coloured circle around the full screen. Stay alive, stay safe, score the highest score. Have fun!

Comments (6)Ooo… Beefed up for the Homebrew Idol competition is Royale with his latest version of PSP-Maps. You know what it’s all about — just with added freshness.

To unlock Google Moon, Google Mars, and Google Sky; you’ll need to do a little investigative work. So you should download the source code as well.
PSP-Maps is a tool that allows you to browse Google Maps, Virtual Earth and Yahoo Maps with your PSP and its WiFi connection. You can move around the map, zoom in and out, cycle through the different available views, search for an address, load/save favorites, etc…
It includes a cache system so you can browse later the maps you have previously seen, even if you don’t have WiFi available. There is also a PC version if you don’t have WiFi at all, so you can build a cache on your computer and copy it to your PSP.
Technically, PSP-Maps connects directly to the servers to fetch the images, it does not use the provided APIs since there are usually in JavaScript and not convenient for a homebrew.
PSP-Maps v1.0 changes:
Still unsatisfied with Sony’s RSS implementation? Still looking for a viable alternative? Look no further as The Underminer prepares to blow your mind apart with PReSS (Portable RSS) version 0.3.
Recognize — PReSS 0.3 has been submitted for our Homebrew Idol competition. Good luck, Underminer.
