Comments (89)PSP/Nokia Battery Hack Job *Updated*
greg | January 16, 2009
Update: A picture tutorial is now available here.
A quick story resulting in a quick hack job… LordLeXaT’s PSP battery broke, and with no money to buy a new one, he turned to his MacGyver box set to determine the best possible route… And the result:
What you see above is a standard Nokia battery (BL-5C) pack used with the original PSP battery control board. So now that all is said and done, LordLeXaT has a longer lasting battery than most of you, or so he says…
“The battery is lighter and has nearly 150% lifetime of the original 1800mAh PSP battery, and by the way, the text of the Nokia battery reads 1020mAh.”
We don’t have a tutorial for you, but for the most part, it seems straightforward. And please, exercise caution should you attempt this battery mod yourself.
Comments (67)MyPSP Touchscreen: Final Proof of Concept
greg | November 3, 2008
Over at PSP-Italia is ccpspita’s comprehensive proof-of-concept showcasing the MyPSP Touchscreen. Combining a little of this ‘n that — namely a RS-232 touchscreen and controller interface, a SIO cable, a hacked PSP Fat or Slim, and of course some mean lean coding skills — you’ll too have a functional MyPSP Touchscreen.

More photos are available via the source link.

Comments (23)PSP SNES Controller Mod
greg | October 29, 2008
Play Super Nintendo the way it’s meant to be played… … Well, sort of… The F00 has crafted something so crafty, I’ll quote the mod master himself:
Some time ago I was contacted by a nice guy in the US. He asked me whether I would be interested in building a psp mod for his partner. She has limited use of one of her hands and as such can’t use a psp, but she can however use a SNES controller perfectly (I’ve seen it, its quite a talent). So he asked if I would be able to add a SNES controller to a PSP for her.
Well at long last here it is.
And in related news, you best ready your eBay auction paddles — the F00 is [soon] selling a collection of individually modded PSPs on eBay this week. Check the source link for updates on that.

Comments (33)PSP Completely Splayed Out
greg | October 27, 2008
Check out alien_x’s disassembled, splayed, and racked PSP… The end result: one fashionable PSP hardware development board. EBGames (or Gamestop) should setup a functioning kiosk like this. Wall mount that bad boy, man oh man… Pretty hardcore. Kudos, alien_x.
Quoting alien_x –
Now, why is there no UMD drive? How is it controlled I hear you say?
Well the main controlling is done via a modified PS2 controller, that plugs in via the DSUB 25 pin connector, but also due to the boards plug and play nature, I could make an array of tactile switches to control it if the need arises. And for the UMD drive, I could implement it if it becomes completely necessary, but at the moment I am happy playing games from my memory stick.
I spent a lot of time on this project, and literally blood sweat and tears, so please tell me what you think.
This will be for sale in the near future as I need the funds for my new cnc machine build.

Comments (60)PSPZ: the PSP Touch Screen Project
greg | August 11, 2008
Well I’ll be damned… Never thought I’d witness a homebrew project of this stature. If the PSP Motion Kit/Driver blew your face off, wait till you see this…
Combining three elements — software, hardware, and Jube’s brain — will create something so mind-blowing you’ll be left staring at the 50 second mark in awe. Introducing Jube’s PSP touch screen project — PSPZ.
Jube mentions the code will be released soon. And as for the hardware side of things, we’re not so sure yet. We’ll keep you posted as PSPZ evolves.
Mad props, Jube.

Make room iPhone — get a load of this bad boy…
Spotted in our forums it would seem someone has taken liberty in creating their own PSP touch-screen phone. I’m not sure who’s responsible for this righteous mod; nevertheless, it’s noteworthy. So kudos, whoever you are.

There isn’t much detail other than that. More pics available following the discussion thread.
