Grand Theft Auto fans, here’s another from Edison Carter. Now enjoy cheating Liberty City Stories on all the latest custom firmwares. It works in a similar fashion to Edison’s VCS CheatDevice, but it’s for GTA:LCS instead. Same concept applies; documentation inside ‘readme.txt.’
Supported UMD versions:
- original US version
- original UK/Euro version
- new patched US version
Unfortunately the patched UK/Euro version does not work.
Have fun, don’t hurt yourself!

Comments (18)Yet Another IMG Editor v1.3 (YAIE) for Grand Theft Auto!
greg | July 3, 2007
Earlier in the year a coder by the name of Dustcrazy released a Windows app for extracting & manipulating models/textures from Grand Theft Auto’s main IMG file. Today a much improved version is available supporting GTA Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, as well the PS2 versions — GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas.

If you get an error indicating file *.OCX is missing, copy all three OCX files to your System32 folder and run “REGSVR32.bat” to register them.
Additionally, YAIE includes plugin support and there are plans for a GTA textural editor later on. Foreign users will be pleased to know multiple languages are supported via ‘lang.ini.’

Comments (19)Liberty City Stories .IMG Extractor Beta
greg | March 12, 2007
Its been awhile since we’ve seen any GTA:LCS related hacks, but suddenly, like a quick donkey-punch, Dustcrazy releases Liberty City Stories IMG Extractor v1.0.1. Responsible for extracting models and textures from Grand Theft Auto’s main IMG file — for both the PSP and PS2 version — GTA modders/hackers/cheaters alike will definitely have some fun with this.
Requirements:
- Either the PSP or PS2 image file
- 40 MB Free RAM, or the size of the IMG. Note the twice as much memory than required will increase the speed.
- Time… Do to the current process in the build it requires a good amount of time. I plan to improve the amount of time that this takes. Its due to the slower speed of Windows file reading/writing vs the Windows API version…
- Visual Basic 6 Runtimes
A great achievement indeed; let the GTA hacking carry on! Installation and usage can be found in “ReadMe.rtf.”

Thanks for the heads up Dustcrazy.

Comments (35)VCS CheatDevice v2.2 Released
greg | December 14, 2006
Cheat your way by wreaking havoc through Vice City — there’s no better way! And to help achieve that is Edison Carter with a new release of the popular Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories Cheat Device for DevHook. Most importantly it supports the latest DevHook release, v0.51.0100! Aside from that, here are the latest additions in v2.2:
- Hover Cars and Bikes
- Set Wanted Level
- Never Fall Off Your Bike
- Automatic Flip Over
- Walking Speed
- Rocket Boost
What else can you do?
- Fun with gravity!
- Heavy car or bike
- Make your car indestructible
- More teleport locations
- Vehicle Spawns
- Step Through Walls
- Power Jump
- Screenshot
- Video Recorder
- Step Up/Down
- Infinite Health & Armor
- Set Time
Some notes…
CheatDevice for VCS runs as a PRX, so you need to run VCS through DevHook to use it. Install the PRX by running CheatDeviceInstall.exe or read the instructions in readme.txt if you prefer to do it by hand.
IMPORTANT NOTE: After installing, wait at least 30 seconds before turning off USB or pulling out your memory stick. The PC caches your changes and doesn’t write them out until a while later. If your memory card gets corrupt, use “chkdsk /f X:” I advise against saving your game after using cheats. Please note that when you spawn vehicles, you are using a game cheat that will lower your criminal rating!
As previously stated, it’s best to grab the GTA:VCS CheatDevice from Edison Carter’s official website; do that by clicking here.
Thanks Edison!
Comments (18)GTA:VCS CheatDevice v2.1a
greg | November 9, 2006
Edison Carter has released two new versions of the CheatDevice for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories since we’ve last covered the initial release of v2.0 earlier in the month.
v2.1 & v2.1a introduce:
- Fun with gravity!
- Heavy car or bike
- Make your car indestructible
- More teleport locations
And also supported (from the previous release):
- Vehicle Spawns
- Step Through Walls
- Power Jump
- Screenshot
- Video Recorder
- Step Up/Down
- Infinite Health & Armor
- Set Time
The included PRX runs under both DevHook and Dark_AleX’s 2.71 SE firmware. Download, enjoy, cause chaos in the streets of Vice City, and don’t save your game afterwards — cheater!
Because this PRX is updated frequently it’s always best to fetch the most recent from Edison Carter’s website, www.cheatdevice.com.
Comments (35)New Rockstar Games PSP Title This Year
greg | June 8, 2006
When the publisher of the Grand Theft Auto Series, Take-Two Interactive, posted their financial results for the second quarter of fiscal ‘06, they gave some insight on products planned for release this year. One of which of course was Vice City Stories for PSP.
However, they announced “an additional PSP title based on another [Rockstar Games] premier brand”. So which premier brand from R* would you like to play on your PSP? Read Dead Revolver, Manhunt, Max Payne? We’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled and see what it is.
