fMSX PSP v3.5.41 Released
greg | March 19, 2010
Akop with a quick fix for the JP button mode users of fMSX v3.5.40… You would’ve only noticed a problem when trying JP mode, so if you haven’t, then don’t worry about it — version 3.5.41 isn’t for you. But should you want it anyway, then here you go: Akop’s fMSX PSP. You know it’s awesome… Metal Gear and many other bomb ass titles were established on this computer back in the ’80s. The 80s; the MSX/MSX2; Metal Gear; c’mon…
fMSX PSP v3.5.41:
- Fixed ‘Button Mode’ (US/JP) switch, so that it will correctly initialize on startup

Comments (2)Jpcsp v0.5 Officially Released; Emulate the PSP on Your PC
greg | March 10, 2010
Now better than ever: Jpcsp version 0.5… Powered by Java you’re able to emulate, at least to some degree, the PlayStation Portable. Load and play your UMDs (ISO ‘em up first) or homebrew right on your PC — Windows 32 and 64-bit supported. It even works well under virtualization with Parallels.
(screenshot dated)Of course many games remain unplayable… Some games load then later error out; others crap out immediately. But don’t get it twisted; there is a good list of playable titles. See this: Jpcsp Games Discussion.
Jpcsp v0.5:
- Lot of improvements & fixes
- Speedups using shaders
- New implementations for HLE modules
- Multi-language packs (English- French – Spanish – Catalan – Lithuanian)
- Improved Fake MPEG
- More general fixes
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg… For complete revisionary changes visit the Google Code project page.

fMSX PSP v3.5.40 Released: MSX / MSX2 / MSX2+ Emulator
greg | March 1, 2010
Now I can’t really vouch for the awesomeness that may be MSX; I never had one. The MSX was released in ‘83 when I was fresh out the womb, and it was later discontinued in ‘95 when O.J. was acquitted of murder charges. But that’s neither here nor there… It’s 2010 now and this is Akop’s newest version — v3.5.40 — of fMSX PSP. It’s a port from Marat Fayzullin’s original work, which emulates the MSX, MSX2, and MSX2+ 8-bit home computers.

fMSX v3.5.40:
- Improved saved state format – will automatically switch to appropriate system settings
- PSPLIB updated to latest version
- Images are now saved under PSP/PHOTOS/fMSX PSP
- Virtual keyboard updated, option for “toggle display” mode
- Screenshot previews in file browser

Comments (5)PSPUAE v0.80 BETA Released; Updated Amiga Emulator
greg | February 21, 2010
It’s been along time coming, and still my #1 personal top pick: PSPUAE — the PSP Ubiquitous Amiga Emulator.
Released by FOL, PSPUAE v0.80 BETA features preliminary AGA (Advanced Graphics Architecture) support. AGA was introduced with the Amiga 1200 and 4000 models.
Sorry I couldn’t pull off the Barbarian decapitation on video. The game play is much too slow when using RemoteJoy. Without that enabled it plays smooth though. I recommend you download Barbarian: The Ultimate Warrior. It’s awesome. Configure “Joystick 0″ to act on the Analog Stick; swing up and 360 the analog nub around pressing fire (X) at the right time. You’ll get it. Press F1 to get a 1-player game going.
Anyway, back to PSPUAE v0.80: don’t expect great speeds with AGA enabled, so says FOL…
Still needs alot of work (so don’t expect great speeds). I will try to make more time to get it working better, still need sound sorted and HDD support.
To use AGA at the moment, you need to select it on first boot under quick start configuration. I am aware that the menu is screwed up…
Download both the Amiga emulator and Amiga Kickstart rom below. Install PSPUAE like any other homebrew. Rename the Kickstart 1.3 rom to “kick13.rom” and copy that to the PSP/GAME/PSPUAE/KICKS directory. Game disks are typically distributed in adf format and they’re copied to the DISKS directory. Start PSPUAE and press select to open the main menu.
There is no read me included with this release. If you’re unsure about things, refer to the PSPUAE documentation right here.
Thanks FOL!

Comments (8)PCE for PSP v0.83b3 Released: TurboGrafx 16 Emulator Updated
greg | February 15, 2010
Turbocharging the graphics to the max is <insert Japanese developer’s name> and their PCE for PSP v0.83b3 emulator. As you may already know, PCE for PSP emulates the dopest 8-bit CPU and dual 16-bit GPU console from back in the day — the TurboGrafx 16 (or PC Engine if you’re from Japan).
Relive your childhood through all the great TG-16/PCE titles: J.J. & Jeff (or Kato-chan & Ken-chan), the Bonk series, Bloody Wolf, Splatterhouse, Legendary Axe… Yeah, you know what’s up.
PCE for PSP v0.83b3:
- added submenu.ini file for key configuration;
- fixed bug in saving of emulator’s configuration.

Comments (14)Emulator Update: PSPMame R0.5 and gpSP-J 100211 Released
greg | February 12, 2010
Two emulators from two Japanese developers: PSPMame R0.5 and gpSP-J 100211. What’s new? I’m not entirely sure; I don’t speak or understand Japanese. Rest assure, whatever changes, they’re for the best.

By the looks of it, PSPMame — the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator — has been released by TMK, who has picked up where Takka left off. Oddly enough however, this archive doesn’t include all the systems from the earlier PSPMame 0.4 release. What’s up with that? Oooh weee, I said what’s up with that, ah what’s up with that?!
And with respect to gpSP-J — the Game Boy Advance Emulator — it’s either a Takka release or again someone else who has picked up the slack. You’ll need to locate the GBA BIOS for gpSP to work. A simple Google Search will turn that up.
Happy emulatin!

NesterJ 1.12 Plus 0.61… Add that shit up and you have a new Nintendo emulator with the rewind-mirror (RM) mod in full effect.
This release is based on NesterJ v1.12 by Takka, which is based on the original work of Ruka. And the ability to rewind gameplay and mirror the screen stems from DAVEX’s creative mind. Sadly this does not support Ad Hoc multiplayer; however, this version does.

Comments (23)PSPKVM v0.5.5 Test 4 Released
greg | January 9, 2010
It looks like the PSPKVM boys are ramping up towards a new release: PSPKVM v0.5.5. This is Test 4, which fixes MP3-related issues. It’s distributed as an EBOOT and only an EBOOT. So if you care to test v0.5.5 before its official release, you must download PSPKVM 0.5.4 first and replace the EBOOT in that package. Enjoy!
PSPKVM enables MIDP/JavaME apps and games on the PSP… This is software you’d typically find on cell phones and other mobile devices. You should know the PSPKVM and Opera Mini combo serves as a great PSP web browser alternative too.
