Another DOSBox update from developer CrazyC!

I put up a new build which attempts to auto calculate the cylinder, head, sector values. The result should have a number of sectors just slightly less then the actual on the disk.

Hopefully, it will also be larger then the first partition, but if not it won’t be terrible as dosbox only uses CHS for int 13h operations which very few apps use. In short, don’t try to run fdisk from within dosbox. To do it run “imgmount msstor0: -t hdd -fs fat”

I said this before, and I’ll say it again… Uneducated users should know DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC with its own DOS-like command prompt. While lacking many features supported in MS-DOS, it is capable of installing and running most DOS games. Check out a full compatibility list here. Been awhile since we’ve covered CrazyC’s DOSBox port for the PSP. Here is a new build compatible with custom firmware 3.xx and PSP Slims.

CrazyC notes…

Here is a test build for 3.xx kernels. It’s completely untested other then I know it starts on my fat with the 3.52 kernel. It should work on the slim but at the moment, it doesn’t use the extra RAM.

Also, those bus error crashes a few pages back can be avoided by using dos32a, but GTA1 still doesn’t work because it runs out of memory.

A few days back CrazyC released a new build of DosBox, an update to the popular DOS emulator running on the PSP. Unfortunately it wasn’t the most user-friendly package; however, the dcemu posse has taken the liberty in delivering CrazyC’s terrific work in a much more intuitive archive. In addition they’ve provided a compatible games list and screen shots.

Games reported working: Warcraft 1, Prince of Persia 2 and Theme Park.
