Comments (4)CISO Converter Plus! v1.0.11 Released
greg | October 1, 2007
kapoue3 delivers a brand new version of CisoPlus — the popular CSO [command line] tool for both Windows and Linux.
CisoPlus v1.0.11 includes a nifty new feature (-rm_update) allowing all the UPDATE crap to be easily pushed into a Lost Area. As a result, you’ll end up with a smaller CSO image. By “UPDATE crap” I mean the possible firmware update and other related files that come on most UMDs.
kapoue3 notes…
If you combine this new feature with the previous one (-rm_aud & -rm_vid) you can, for example, divide by 20 the size of the game “Pocket Pool”.
Stick around, the front end side of things (Yacc) will be modified to include -rm_update.

CisoPlus v1.0.10 Released!
greg | August 13, 2007
Update: Comparison overview of CisoPlus compression, check out this chart.
A minor update for CisoPlus from developer kapoue3. There are no new options; however, the compatibility of “Lost Areas” has been improved, as well a nasty bug corrected in the linux build. Fetch the revised version below & compress it reaaaal good.
Two notable points from kapoue3:
- CisoPlus is a command-line tool, so I have no time to teach how to use a ms-dos prompt (or a linux shell), this is a version for advanced people or for those who have developed a GUI. I’m working also on a new Yacc to integrate this new CisoPlus
- The lost Areas are just options: we are not obliged to use them!!! Some people forget this, and think that CisoPlus will always delete media files!!! CisoPlus is a 100% compatible CSO compressor which keep all the ISO data, only the new options (-rm_aud & rm_vid) will destroy the CSO. The game is always readable by the PSP without any new plugin.

You can now associate *.ISO and *.CSO files with Extreme Link using the “Auto Execute” feature. Avid PSP Hacks readers should be well aware of Extreme Link by now… Quake has given us a number of updates in the last couple of days and 1.5.2B11 surely aims to please.
Yesterday we saw a new version of CisoPlus with support for “Lost Areas.” (click here to learn about that…). While CisoPlus remains a command line tool — not the most friendliest of interfaces — Quake has taken the initiative by adding support for these new features to Extreme Link’s CisoPlus front end. Now take full advantage of kapoue3’s powerful CSO compressor with ease!

Good job Quake.

Comments (14)CisoPlus 1.0.9.1 Released
greg | July 5, 2007
kapoue3 has bumped CisoPlus to version 1.0.9.1 — the enhanced CSO compressor for Windows & Linux. Remember, it’s a command line tool, it’s not designed for the technically-impaired. Perhaps we’ll see a new version of Yacc GUI — the CisoPlus front end — in the near future.
CisoPlus 1.0.9.1 changes:
- Improved some previous code
- Added optimized decompression (-dec -opt)
- Added “Lost Areas” to reduce CSO file size… (the –rm_aud & –rm_vid arguments)
Lost Areas shouldn’t be taken lightly; they’re considered “destructive options” which prevent audio and/or video files from being written to the resulting CSO image. It could potentially render the game unplayable. I’d suggest you refrain from using these options if you don’t understand what you are doing. To perform advanced ISO manipulation, you should use UMDGen or wait for a new version of CisoPlus.
If, of course, –rm_aud & –rm_vid are not used, CisoPlus write a 100% fully compliant CSO and can regenerate the original ISO.
Run “cisoplus.exe -fullhelp” for complete usage detail.
Have fun!

Comments (25)Extreme Link 1.5.1 Released
greg | May 19, 2007
Speaking of CisoPlus front ends, a week or two ago Quake returned with his all-purpose PSP tool for Windows — Extreme Link! As you may have guessed, Extreme Link 1.5.1 features support for kapoue3’s CisoPlus compressor. But that’s not all, there’s more! For one low payment of $0 you will also receive POPstation, DocMaker, and PNG Imager features — all used for achieving maximum PSX enjoyment! Wait! Download now and Extreme Link will act as a USBHostFS and NETHostFS front end too.
In all seriousness, this app includes a wide range of tools & options… Download and check it out for yourself. Kudos Quake.
At first I was a bit confused where to find the CisoPlus GUI; however, the screenshot below is worth a million words.

Comments (24)CisoPlus v1.0.8 Is Available!
greg | May 1, 2007
kapoue3 has implemented yet another genius method used for optimizing compressed ISO images, I’m speaking CSO, yo. That rhymed.
Although the CSO compressed image format is nothing new, kapoue3 has done a terrific job tweaking & adding new functionality. Yup, CisoPlus is the key — to get the most out of your dumped UMD and memory stick storage capacity. Did that just rhyme again?
New in CisoPlus v1.0.8 is the option “-ext” allowing you to specify certain files that you wish to place in non-compressed (NC) areas. Files are specified by extension, so for example, to put all *.prx and *.xpac files in NC areas, you’d execute something like this (from command line):
cisoplus -com -MT -aud -vid -ext.prx.xpac “myfile.iso” “myfile.cso”
Included in the download are both binaries for Windows & Linux users.

Comments (18)CisoPlus! v1.0.7 Released
greg | April 18, 2007
kapoue3 has released another [minor] update to CisoPlus!
1.0.7 is solely a bug fix version, as per kapoue3’s kind message:
I’ve corrected a bug when using the -vid & -aud options without using the -MT option.
Now, CisoPlus! can use the DAX’s trick in both Multithread and No-Multithread version.
Thanks to axeps2 for finding this bug.
…Should do the trick for anyone who experienced problems relating to that bug. And to quickly recap if you’re a newcomer: This command line tool enhances BOOSTER’s original CSO compression format; CisoPlus is responsible for converting PSP compliant ISO images to CSO format with support for many extended functions…
- Compression and estimation are a bit faster in Multithread mode
- Command-line options have changed: there are switches. Please read the full help for the new syntax
- -est_mt flag for threaded estimation
- place audio and/or video files in non-compressed areas of the image to help reduce lag. See the [media] argument.
- there are still the original compression/decompression functions of Booster
- there is a optimized compression version for all CPU
- a simulation mode to estimate quickly the final compression rate without writing the CSO (up to 10 times faster)
- threshold which allows (as Dax) to increase the size of the CSO slightly but reduce the lags during the game (e.g. GTA). This option gives as good results as the DAX and the CSO can work on custom firmware or devhook without plugins
- a special optimized compression for DualCore Cpu owners. It can be twice faster than the initial version.
