Exactly two posts down you’ll notice 0okm’s 2.80 -> 2.71 downgrader for TA-079 to TA-086 pcb’s. With many reported successes we now have an Easy Downgrader courtesy of ~maniac~ from Klm Software.

Simply connect your PSP to an available USB port and run the supplied Windows executable. All the required downdater files will be copied to the correct location on your memory stick.

Simplified instructions:

• Install xLoader
• Install DownDater
• Start xLoader
• Run DownDate
• Pray

0okm has released a 2.80 to 2.71 downgrader for motherboard models TA-079 all the way through TA-086. Although in order to get a copy you’ll need to email 0okm requesting it — see source link below. Once retrieved, the steps are relatively straight forward:

1. on FW1.50PSP:
   Download PSARDumper
   Download PSP FW2.71 Update EBOOT
   Download PBP Unpacker
   
   use PBP Unpacker to unpack FW2.71 EBOOT.PBP
   copy FW2.71 DATA.PSAR to ms0:\
   run PSARDumper on FW1.50PSP then press circle to dump encrypted without sigcheck and decrypted reboot.bin.”
   to Dump “FW2.71 File”
2. on FW2.80PSP
   Extract FW280DownDate2FW271.zip to ms0:\
   check ms0:\F0 have 286 files and total size is 18,598,267 Bytes
   PowerOff PSP to CleanReboot
   Run xLoader on FW2.80PSP
   then Run 2.71DDforTA-079~086FW2.80PSP

Once successfully downgraded you may proceed to FW 1.50 by using one of the supplied downgraders. TA-082 owners, ensure you use Dark_AleX’s TA-082 downgrader to avoid bricking your unit.

Holy homebrew-fest Batman, errr I mean, 0okm!

0okm has released the almighty 2.80 downgrader for non-TA-082 users. Yup, this does not work with TA-082 boards, so don’t ask. Otherwise, if you are an existing 2.80 user and wish to downgrade I highly suggest you follow the instructions very very carefully.

HowTo

1. Run moonlight’s “FW2.60 DownDate helper” on FW1.50 PSP to Dump “FW1.50 File” or Download “FW1.50 File” from psp-hacks downdater_final.rar.
   Extract downdater_final.rar \DOWNDATER\ all file to ms0:\DOWNDATER\
2. Run FW150IPL_Dumper on FW1.50PSP to Dump ms0:\DOWNDATER\PRX\FW150_ipl.bin
   NOTE: if no FW150_ipl.bin in ms0:\DOWNDATER\PRX\
   Run FW280DownDate4TA-079 will brick your PSP !!!
3. Run FW280DownDate4TA-079 By xLoader
   NOTE: Don’t use eLoader to Run FW280DownDate4TA-079 it will brick your PSP !!!

PSP Hobbyist, 0okm, has released a new homebrew app for those wishing to play game share demos with ease. It supports firmware 2.50-2.71 and 2.80! The instructions are relatively straight forward:

1. rip the GemeShare PBP from UMD
2. rename it to EBOOT.PBP and paste on GemeShareLoader Folder
3. start GemeShareLoader

0okm has made it apparent that there is indeed hope for TA-082 motherboard owners! As simply stated on his blog:

PSP Multi Firmware module will support TA-082 on NEXT Ver.
so if your TA-082 PSP is FW2.50 or FW2.60
don’t update!!!

What does this mean? Well, by the looks of it, TA-082 owners who are currently left unable to downgrade could very well be on their way to 1.50 freedom! Nothing is available to the public as of yet – rest assure, it’s being worked on and we may see something sooner than later. In the meantime – as 0okm said – don’t upgrade your PSP!
