Update: Oh man, maybe it is worse than I thought… Check this out, by way of MCV:
Sony is not currently planning to bring its newly announced PSPgo Rewards scheme to North America. The service was announced yesterday for European territories… An SCEA representative has revealed the company will support both the new handheld and the standard PSP.
“We have a dual platform strategy,” a Sony representative told IGN. “PSPgo is the latest offering in our portable entertainment products targeted for the digitally savvy and early adopters who are looking for an easy way to experience entertainment and a wide variety of digital content.
“We will continue to be committed to our existing PSP users by offering over 16,000 pieces of digital content including games, minis, movies, television shows and SensMe, the new music application as well as UMDs.”
What a bummer. I was looking forward to 3 free games.
My bad… I misunderstood the original cited source.
Let me try this again… Anyone who owns an UMD-supported PSP is entitled to participate in the “PSPgo Rewards” program. First you register your new PSPgo on the PlayStation Network; the program ends March 31st 2010. Once you do that, insert any UMD in the old PSP and log in to PSN. You will then be emailed a promo code redeemable for 3 games of your choice – any 3 from the 17 that is.
That’s all right. It’s certainly better than what I originally thought.
