Re: [Release] Sleep'n'Wake PSP 1.0 - Homebrew Competition

That are nice news thanks! I will experiment around with some graphic effects and stuff, so I will definitely have the original splash then in the next revision. I think of a fade from the original splash image to the background image (a transition in color space), then the menu comes up. Hope it works some time.

And yes, thanks again for having the app officially been entering the compo \o/

cheers

Re: [Release] Sleep'n'Wake PSP 1.0 - Homebrew Competition

MK2k has updated his homebrew entry into our 2007 homebrew competition. here is what he posted:

Sleep'n'Wake PSP 1.1 Updated/Enhanced Version

Due to a quite overwhelming feedback from the public, here is a new updated and enhanced version of SnW!

New in Version 1.1

- 50MHz underclock in SleepMode while no mp3 is played
- Big Digits Time Display in Sleep- and Wake Mode (see screenshot)
- Left and Right Shoulderbuttons now exit Wake Mode too
- An overflow with adding items to the playlist fixed
- Playlist enlargement to 99 max. entries
- Filebrowser now remembers last visited Directory
- PSP-Hacks Splash Screen (sorry 'bout that missing in 1.0)

Description
This is a little app for the PSP which gives you the possibility to doze off with your favourite music playing silently and wake up with some thrash metal or hardcore bassdrums with volume maxed at a predefined time.

Features so far
- Full cbr/vbr/abr 8kbps-320kbps 44.1kHz MP3 support
- MP3 can be of arbitrary length
- Manage different playlists for Sleep and Wake modes
  -> add / remove mp3s
  -> save / load playlists
- In Sleep mode you can set a special, more silent volume
- Wake mode is entered at a preset time with volume maxed (you can always adjust the maximum volume with the VOL + and - keys)
- Write yourself a message which will be displayed in Wake mode
- USB Mass Storage can be enabled/disabled within the app
- Energy Save Mode (underclocks the PSP to 50MHz while no mp3 is running)
- Big Digits Time Display

Re: [Release] Sleep'n'Wake PSP 1.0 - Homebrew Competition

Great idea for an app... but it doesn't really work for me... the other night I finally got to test it out for the first time.  I set up my Sleep list and my Wake list and went into sleep mode... then it started playing music for about 15 minutes and then it just stopped for no reason.  I was too tired to look at it so I just said "screw it" and kept in bed.  I guess it went to sleep, but I have auto-sleep turned off, so I don't know why it would do this, plus I would think you would make your app set up so the PSP wont go to sleep after a while, seeing as what its for... I had my PSP plugged in, and battery was basically full, so it wasn't the battery.  Is it possible that you can add a feature to automatically turn off the screen when the hold switch is flipped on?  That way, users can easily start sleep mode and just put hold on, which will turn off their screen, and they'll be ready for going to sleep.  Also, I don't know if you already added this, but you should make it so, when in sleep/wake mode, it will underclock to 110 mhz to save battery life, but still be able to play mp3s.  Also, you need to make a random mode so we don't have to listen to our mp3s in any particular order.

Re: [Release] Sleep'n'Wake PSP 1.0 - Homebrew Competition

"then it started playing music for about 15 minutes and then it just stopped for no reason" - sounds like a faulty mp3.
"guess it went to sleep" - i guess it crashed.
"Is it possible that you can add a feature to automatically turn off the screen when the hold switch is flipped on?" - not at the moment, sorry :/
"when in sleep/wake mode, it will underclock to 110 mhz to save battery life, but still be able to play mp3s" - underclock to 50mhz has been done with version 1.1, but when playin mp3s 333mhz will be set due to reliability.
"you need to make a random mode" - i need nothing. but thats an ok idea, will look into that.

For that you can use PSP_CTRL_HOLD  which gives yo the statuc of the hold button and you can also make the screen turn off Im sure.
This app is nice and as some people said yes a 12 hour clock will be greatly appreciated. I haven't tried the new version yet but will.

Re: [Release] Sleep'n'Wake PSP 1.0 - Homebrew Competition

OK i have a psp docking station and this would work very nicly if a added function was to cut audio and start it baack up when it wakes, as of right now even if music isnt playing it plays a constant stream of signal even though there is nothing to play, this causes my docking station to go into sleep mode and since theres no cut it never wakes up

Is there anything you cant mod, its so great but it ruined my life

"you can also make the screen turn off Im sure." <- yeah I know that you can check if the hold has been pressed, no problem on that issue, BUT with the screen turning off feature... nah, cannot find anything documented.

penguinswithhats: please email me regarding that issue.
