PSP-Hacks.com Homebrew Competition 2007!!

PSP-Hacks is proud to present it's first PSP homebrew competition for 2007.  For all of you programmers/homebrew makers, this competition is for you!  You may enter either a Game or an Application as homebrew for the competition.  This competition officially starts Tuesday February 27, 2007, and ends on April 29, 2007, 2 months from now.  Judging will then commence the first week of May.

--- IMPORTANT NOTICE ---
The closing date for the competition has been extended,  The new closing date is now the end of Sunday May 13 2007 PST (Pacific Standard Time)

What about the prizes?
Well PSP-Hacks staff have donated all of these prizes for the winners of the competition:

1) Modded PS2 with the DMS4 pro mod chip and an internal 80 gig hard drive inside plus an internet adapter added on the back of the PS2.
Note: I just found out that some DVDs skip while playing on the PS2 so I will also include the unpatched PSP game Grand Theft Auto Liberty Cities with this prize. This is the PSP game you need to downgrade all PSP firmware 3.03 and below. Everything else on the PS2 works fine

2) Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder

3) Regular PS2 (Non-Modded)

4) New DMS4 pro modchip for the PS2 versions 1-10

5) 3 PS2 games: Star Wars Battlefront II, Battlestar Galactica and Front Mission 4

6) Free month of Premium Rapidshare account. (Donated by Calo)

All of the prizes have been donated by PSP-Hacks staff unless otherwise stated. More prizes may be added before the end of the competition.
The way the prizes will be awarded is like this:
First place in the competition will be able to choose which prize he wants form the list first.  Second place will have second choice, third will get third choice and so on.  As of right now, there are 6 prizes but only 5 places for the prizes.  The last prize, the prize that is not chosen will goto a random entry in the competition.  That way everyone gets a chance to win something regardless of how good your game/application is.
When more prizes are added to the list, the more winners that will be selected for the prizes.

RULES of the competition:

1) Must be your own homebrew. No improving or updating other people's homebrew.

2) Must start from scratch. Must not be something that you made awhile back. If it was posted somewhere else already, it doesn't count.

3) No copying other people's work. At the end of the competition, you must either post your source code with your homebrew or you may just pm any mod or admin here with your source code if you do not want your code to be public for everyone.

4) You may post your Homebrew for feedback and you can continue to improve your work up until Sunday May 13 2007 when the competition ends

5) Can be either a game or application that runs on the PSP.

6) If you are creating an application for the PSP, the application must be in eboot form in order for it to be entered in the competition.

7) No LUA!

8) Must not enter your homebrew in another competition while entering in this competition. If you enter your homebrew in this competition, then it must not be entered in another site's competition.

9) Must implement one of these splash screens created by ...SHAD0W...  into your homebrew entry:

http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h125/1trueshadow/psp-hackssplash2.jpg

All PSP Splash Screens were created by ...SHAD0W...  Please say thanks to him for the great Splash Screens he made when you enter the competition.  Image can be in any format (PNG, JPEG, BMP etc)

NOTE PSP-Hacks Splash Screen of your choosing must be implemented inside[/] your program/game and not just as an icon in the game menu of your PSP.

Note that these rules can be either changed/modified/edited at any time during the competition by [i]PSP-Hacks
staff with given notice.  Any breakage of the rules will result in disqualification.

Scoring/Judging:

Scoring will begin the first week after 13th of May. The scoring of all entries will be a 50/50 split between Mod judges/Special guest judges and forum wide voting.  The mod judges/Special guest judges score will be 50% of the total score and the forum wide voting will be the other 50% of the score.
These are the factors that the Judges will be looking for when scoring the homebrew:

GAME:
1) Completeness of game.

2) Originality.

3) Fun factor.

4) Gameplay

5) Graphics and music/effects quality.

APPLICATION:
1) Completeness of application.

2) Originality.

3) Usefulness.

4) Ease of use

5) Overall quality of the application.

Again, these are the qualities the Mod judges will use in scoring each homebrew.  When you participate in the forum wide voting, please use those qualities for the basis of your decision as well.

There will be members who donate prizes toward the competition be made into special guest judges to the competition.  The special guest judges will hold the same scoring weight as the Mod judges.
Would you like to donate something towards the competition?  If so, send a Mod here a PM with your request and we'll consider it :)
Once you are ready to enter the competition, post in this thread the name of your homebrew, a brief explanation of your homebrew and a download link to your game/app and I will add you to the list of entries here.

Re: PSP-Hacks.com Homebrew Competition 2007!!

That is some first prize you got there...
If only I code...

I was hoping you would let the coders choose either between that and this...
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h125/1trueshadow/psp-hackssplash.jpg
But then again it's your contest, your choice...
Good luck to all, I can't wait to see what PSP-Hacks' coders can do...

Alright, I'll go a head and edit the first post to let the coders have a few choices as to which splash screen they would like to use in their homebrew entry.
