UBER Battery update

I have Ordered most all the parts i need for the 100hr uber battery, i have after many weeks of srudying drawings of cases found the right case for the batterys. it is a transperant blue case with an interlocking lid. some people have asked me why go through so much trouble looking for a clear case, and i told them i did not want any problems at the airport since this battery is designed for travle. so now on to the case size. it is 5.906" (150.00 mm) Long X 3.150" (80.0 mm) wide X 1.969" (50 mm)High. It might sound big, But it is around the same size as 2 psp stacked on top of each other. could fit in a cargo pocket. i can get a belt clip for this battery back but i dont want it to pull my pants down. some people might call it a brick but for the amount of power it can hold its worth ann the names it could be called. the dc-dc converter im using is speclity made for the use with li-ion batterys, it is 96-98% efficent in bringing the 2.5-4.2 volts up to 5.0 volts. and it does not very from the 5.0 volts by more than .01+ or .01- volt which is extreamley cool. the nice thing is that it is going to be built into the battery pack so that the output voltage of the battery  is 5.0 volts for your psp, but i will also have adapters that can connect to this battery that can eather up the voltage or drop it down so that it can be used with your other portable electronics. the charger will also be built into the battery and the nice thing is that you can supply 5-18 volts to the battery and it will charge the battery with no consern about damaging the charging unit. so you can plug it into your car adapter or anything else that puts out between 5-18 volts. The charging unit also has upgradable firmware so that it can be upgraded with new software, or if a new battery technogley comes out and you want to replace the batterys with the new higher densety batterys then the charger can be programed to charge them. so as you can see this battery is going to be top of the line with the best technogley avaible. i will post some pictures as soon as i can.  so far the battery cost is going to be around $150.00 ill try and see if i can get it down lower but i dont want to use make a cheep unit. let me know what you think.

Yes and one more thing, it holds 16 batterys that are 2000mah at 4.2 volt
thats 134.4 watts of power and the psp stock battery has 1800mah x 4.2 volts = 7.56 watts of power which lasts the psp around 5 hrs.
so 134.4 / 7.56 = 17.777 times bigger times 5hrs each times = 88.888 hrs run time. thats just a gess but it should be close. i wanted to have 100 hr run time but i dont think the case can hold any more batterys. the next case size up is way to big, we would end up with like a 300hr battery which you could not move or afford.

some people might be wondering why i am not using the li-polimer batterys. there to expensive the battery would be around $300 for the same amount of power there like 12-15 bucks a cell. so i decided to stick to the good li-ion batterys.

let me know what you thing about this battery, i know some people are not going to like it but you cant plese everyone. i jus know that there have been many times that have needed a battery like this, and i must addmit i would even use it in my home because there is never a plug close to where you are.

one last thing, Im looking for a cool name for this battery that i will have etched into the top of the battery case. so if any of you have an idea let me know.

Thanks for reading this. pictures are coming soon.

Re: UBER Battery update

It's a good idea, but the size may be a problem.

You could call it PSPower!

How did it make you feel Preston?

Great Name there reminds me of alotta homebrew though.

the size wouldn't bother me though especially if it had all that power and if it is $150 then thats pretty cheap to me especially when i spend like £500 on a mobile phone.

Hell i would probably buy 2 incase one dies.

Re: UBER Battery update

ok are you redy for the results, and the survay says.
i am still wating for the charging cicurt  but because it is a prototype and to manufacture onley has 5 i am being paticent. anyway hear are the pictures. the battery is very nice everytime i see it i think i bought it somewhere. there is one question i do have for everyone, should i put a another jack in the case to that you can charge the uber battery and still uber have the uber battery connected to the psp. or should i have just one jack and then have a switch that you can switch to eather charge the psp or tharge the uber battery. let me lnow that you think. hear are the photos.

Re: UBER Battery update

Almost takes the last "P" out of PSP but doesn't because its still small enough to stick into your backpack and still have it attached to the PSP.

That would be so awsome trips especially ones involving 20 hr flights to Hong Kong!!
