Re: Quick Guide for New Users

Bcman: Just a tip

You can upgrade straight to 4.01 M33-2, just like you could in 3.90 M33-2/3.

Re: Quick Guide for New Users

Just to clear things up for me

1. If you have custom firmware (i have 3.80 m33 on my psp slim) you can upgrade/downgrade without using pandora (pandora is only needed for unbricking/installing custom firmware to those with official fw). The slim normal battery is fine as long as it is fully charged/plenty of charge and the psp is connected to power outlet to be sure

2. You can upgrade directly to updates 2 or 3 without upgrading to 1 first? (ie from 3.80 m33 I can upgrade directly to 4.01 M33-2 without having to upgrade first to 4.01 M33? Or do I have to upgrade to 4.01 M33 first before I can update to M33-2/3/4/5 etc.

Do I have to upgrade to 2/3/4 to be able to upgrade to M33-5 or I can upgrade directly from M33 to M33-5?

3. The NAND backup is only THE LAST resort for unbricking BUT it is NOT THE ONLY WAY to  unbrick a PSP

Are all these points correct? This is my understanding of some of the posts/topics/tutorials here and other sites. Please correct me if I misunderstood some things as I want to be sure before I upgrade my CFW to 3.90 or 3.93 or possibly 4.01

Thanks

Re: Quick Guide for New Users

1=correct
2=correct, straight to latest update
3= the nand is a perfect backup that can repair ur psp incase ur idstorage gets ruined, u will need a pandora battery to use it though...
a pandora battery and magic memcard can unbrick a psp.

and just go ahead and install 4.01-2M33.

Re: Quick Guide for New Users

@bcman

thanks

and one more thing.. if you have upgraded to something like  3.90M33 and you want to upgrade to 3.90M33-2 do you still need the 3.90 official firmware or all you need is the 3.90M33-2 eboot?

Re: Quick Guide for New Users

You just need the update. You only need the update eboot if you want to update from an earlier firmware straight to the update you have.
