How To Use And Install CXMB (3.71 to 5.50 CFW)

CXMB is a Custom PRX Plugin that allow you to load flash0 themes from your memory stick using the Theme Settings Menu.

No flashing is required.


Total_Noob's unofficial release of Poison's CXMB for custom firmwares 3.71 to 5.50:

Installation:


Copy the CXMB folder into the root of your memory stick:




Open the seplugins folder on the root of your memory stick:




Open the vsh.txt file inside the seplugins folder and add this line:


ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx





Restart your PSP and enable the plugin in the recovery menu.


Download a CTF file from below or from the CustomTheme Releases forum, or create one following the steps below and place it in PSP/THEME:









Go to Settings/Theme Settings/Theme/ and select your theme:




Your PSP will restart and will load to your new theme.


To change themes simply place your CTF's in PSP/Theme (you don't have to delete your old theme) and then select the theme by going to Settings/Theme Settings/Theme and select your new theme. You can hold as many CTF files as you want on your memory card.



Make Your Own Theme File (CTF):


Use your own modified flash0 files, or download a flash0 theme that you want to convert to CTF.


Place the module and resource folders in the vsh folder, and the font in the font folder:






In order to create a CTF, three decrypted prx are required (common_gui.prx, paf.prx, and vshmain.prx).

These three prx must be placed in the support folder.


Here are the required decrypted prx for each firmware version.

(If you want to create a 5.50 CTF, download the 5.50 PRX, for a 5.00 CTF, the 5.00 PRX, etc.):


➡ 5.50 prx

➡ 5.00 prx

➡ 4.01 prx

➡ 3.90 prx

➡ 3.71 prx

Get a screenshot of your theme and make it to these standards. "300x170, 24bit true color, BMP" and load it to Preview Image in the Others tab:





Find a small picture of your choice or use the same picture and resize it to theses standards. "16x16, 256 Colors, PNG" and load it to Preview Icon in the Others tab.


Get a picture for wallpaper and resize it to these standards. "480x272, 24Bit true color, BMP" and load it to Wallpaper in the Wallpaper tab:






On the information tab, enter random information for the Product ID and for the the version, then go to File/Export and pick a name for your ptf file:





Place the ptf in the CXMB folder.


Open up the conf.txt file, and change PSP/Theme/Default.ctf to the name of your ptf file, keeping the ctf extension.

For example, if your PTF is named mytheme.ptf, then in the conf.txt file you'd write PSP/Theme/mytheme.ctf


Reboot your PSP.

The memory stick light will flash as the CTF file is being created in the theme folder of your PSP .

You should boot to your new theme.


You can now delete the contents of the VSH and FONT folders, and delete the ptf file as well.

i am using 5.00m33-4 and this does not seem to work outside of crashing. I have tried several times : Is there something i am forgetting?

Are there versions of the .ctf themes, you supply in this tutorial, compatible with 5.00m33-4 or is there versions of them for 5.00m33-4?

The cxmb in the guide is for 3.90 M33
use this version http://www.2alien.info/stuff/cxmb_release_3.3.tar.gz

no the themes in the guide won't work on 5.00, but I have converted the p360 Halo Edition to 5.00 http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/f149...ition-t230742/

my guess is you used the cxmb in this guide which is for 3.90

disable the plugin & then use one of these

I know it's been a while since Nothingface said that but I think those links should be added to the tutorial.

Make sure you have the CXMB folder with the included CXMB.prx on root of your memory stick:




Make sure you have this line added to vsh.txt inside the seplugins folder:

ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx


In the recovery menu ---> Plugins ---> cxmb.prx [VSH] (Enabled)

Put your CTF's in ms0:PSP/THEME


In the XMB, go to Theme Settings --> Theme, choose the theme you want to apply.

Your PSP will reboot with your new theme applied.
