Well, I have been working on my newest custom theme, and I have it almost finish and I wanted to test to make sure that the topmenu_icon.rco and opening_plugin.rco were working. I put them in and first I noticed that the opening_plugin didn't work at all, the area where my coldboot text was supposed to be was blank, then I noticed that the Topmenu wasn't working, none of the icons are there at all, just the text, any ideas? Thanks guys!

Edit: Also do the icons/coldboot text have to be the same size as the original Sony ones?

robedom 1,

You can't use deflate compression on 3.71 RCOs. Open RCO Editor, click on options, and make sure Don't compress images an models (for some 3.7+RCOs) is checked:

Then re-inject all of your images into topmenu_icon.rco and opening_plugin.rco and it should be fine.

Yeah I saw another thread you posted that in :D and I fixed that, but now my XMB freezes, could the size of any of the icons cause this? Also I just tried the opening plugin and it didn't fix the problem. Any Ideas?

Upload your topmenu_icon.rco.

As far as the opening_plugin.rco, what image editing program did you use ?

Did you create your own .bmp or extract tex_logo.bmp and edit the text ?

Make sure the alpha channel is present in the .bmp.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/7okakv There is the topmenu_icon.rco

For both the opening plugin and topmenu I used Paint Shop Pro.

I made my own image the dimensions are 134 x 50

What do you mean by Alpha Channel?

Sure I'll try it out, but first I want to see if I can fix this in anyway and what is really wrong with it.

robedom 1,

That topmenu_icon.rco is HUGE.

I removed all the shadows and glows, so it's now 283kb instead of 645kb:

As far as the opening_plugin.rco, if you're just putting your own text you should be putting it in the alpha channel. If you're using an image with color, you can put it in the rgb channel, but if it's too large you'll end up with a white box on your coldboot.

You're better off just extracting tex_logo.bmp from the rco, erase the sony computer entertaiment text from the alpha channel, and type your own text in.

Paintshop Pro can handle alpha channels just fine, whether its a bmp or a png.
