I planned on building a custom machine, or even buying one that was pre-built, like someones old rig, but I got laid off and have to pinch pennies now.
Jacked a XFX 8600GT from my computer maintenance class, and UPgraded to Windows XP Pro x64

A little outdated by many of today's specs, but . . .

P4 2.53GHz (Katrina flood salvage, soldered on 2 pins that came off, works great)
1GB DDR 333 (One 512MB was Katrina flood salvaged, works great)
AOpen AX45V mobo (14 blown capacitors + Katrina flood salvaged, works good)
GeForce FX 5200 (AGP version, major Katrina flood salvage, works great)
500 Watt PSU (3 blown caps, a blown diode, and stuck fans)
500GB total storage across 5 hard drives, right at what I need for now.

Running XP Pro SP3, same installation I originally set up after building it.
Yep, it's somehow still running strong. I'll probably post a pic later (if I can find the old pic I'm thinking of).

Finally decided to post my specs...
Mine are okay...

My main PC, (Running Vista Ultimate(32bit), XP Pro(32bit), Back Track, ubuntu)

AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 Dual Core (Overclocked from 2.81-3.08GHz... (I had it at 3.09GHz but it started crashing after a while, runs perfectly and way more smoothly than before at 3.08GHz))...

2.00GBs DDR2 RAM (Can't remember what brand/version)

Forgotten the MoBo, the most I can remember is that it's an Asus, so yay for me, easy to look around in the BIOS too! .

NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2

EDIT: I thought I'd post what memory I have in total,
Built-in: 1.1883TBs
+
External: 4.655TBs...

EDIT2: Is it worth upgrading to DDR3 yet or is it still a rip-off for all you get?
