Stick with your old computer and older games - there's plenty of quality older games out there (in fact, I play older games a lot more than I do newer games). You could also consider upgrading your current machine. |

as i look more closely at those games like aion and other high demanding games, i dont think i will be playing those but i want to play other games like almost all the valve games like TF2,Counter Strike, and some more. i got a 360 to play graphic intense games haha. upgrading my current machine? tell me if this is salvageable:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/a6q31s thats my Dxdiag with all the info of my my computer. depressing hand me down huh? the reason i want to buy a computer is not only for games. i want something i can really say, "hey i worked my ass off for that." |

A Pentium 4 ain't that bad IMO.
Probably has an AGP slot for graphics so probably difficult to upgrade unfortunately. If I'm that strained for cash, I'd stick with the games console you have. I'm not sure about those games, but I heard that HL2 can run on an integrated RadeonHD3200. If you really must upgrade, perhaps stick to integrated graphics until you have enough money for an actual card. You can always salvage your case and perhaps your PSU etc, so you don't need a completely new computer. Playing games on lower quality settings doesn't really affect gameplay anyway. |

yeah i figured as much, so im gonna buy the comp and keep the thought of buying that card on the back burner. im accustomed to play on low graphics so using an integrated mobo wont be so bad. now how the hell ima bring all my crap from my XP to windows 7 lol. cant i just rip the HDD from my comp and stick into the other comp? ( wow, i know half of the stuff of what i just said is incorrect but ive forgotten almost everything i knew about computer parts.bare with me)

Well it depends on what you have. You can put stuff you need on an external hdd, flash drive, burn it to cd/dvd or just do a straight format and start fresh. The only thing I would worry about saving would be picutres, mp3's, save game, etc. Anything else is just easier to just reinstall so you don't run into problems.

Seriously its not going to be alot and anything to support valve is great. they deserve it. Great ppl if you got a console just get the orange box for that and then save £$£$£$£ on not buying a rig?

Valve isn't really all that great. Steam is a terrible platform. The only good game they have come out with has been hl2. css is just a lackluster upgrade of a 3rd party mod. L4D was good but instead of supporting it as they said they were going too, they spilt the community with a second game

cant help you there with 360. hate M$ and xbox live gold stuff. pay to play? i think not! don't get me started
![]() well i gotta say CS:S these days is severely lacking in players, i dread to think of cs 1.6 considering when i used to play back in the day where you could see thousands of players at a glance but now your lucky to see a fraction of that :/ Just don't be surprised to find people not playing older games |
