Asus not only have a better performance/price ratio, but they have a better standard warranty. On top of that they are extremely well built. My family has 3 HP laptops and I always liked HP until I met Asus' notebooks. Most of them come with scented fans and a pretty awesome case. plus they dont have all that shitware preinstalled on them like HP's.
Also HP's customer service is pretty sad compared to Asus'.
its just a higher quality standard. All Asus's laptops come with Wireless N, HDMI out, lots of USB ports (mine has 8ports for a 14" laptop), eSata, LED backlight, and what not standard. That HP laptop has LED, eSATA and HDMI out, but no Wireless N. Most HP laptops don't come with eSATA or HDMI or even an LED backlit screen.
Jut something to think about.
