It could have been implemented and have expanded the life cycle of DVD's. Then when Bluray and HDDVD's came out maybe they could have implemented a similar methods and we'd be much more ahead -_-... Just wishful thinking I guess.

consumer use would not happen within the next 10 years, but business use is another story.
This is kinda like a zip drive back in the day. 1 in 1000 people had a zip drive (i was one of them). 42gb worth of business data would be great on a single disc. i personally see this taking off and going somewhere.
