Default Homebrew Idol 2 Competition!

Well it's finally here programmers... The new Homebrew Idol 2 competition. As briefly stated before, this competition is based solely on homebrew using 3D rendering of some sort. In this competition, either a public 3D engine such as raptor or lte, or your own private built engine must be used. The rules will be flexible as to allow you to use a 3D background based on a 2D platform. As long as your game or program visually looks 3 dimensional, then it will be allowed in the competition even though it is not a true 3 dimensional app/game.

Here are a basic summary of the rules, which can be changed or added to at any time up to the competition end with at least 3 weeks notice.

1. Competition must be based on 3D rendering or at least the visual concept of 3D rendering such as 3D background or 3D first person mode based on a 2D platform.

I would suggest incorporating the use of either the LTE engine here:
www.ltestudios.com

or the use of the Raptor engine here:

http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1651

If I get some spare time, I'll post lessons and tutorials on using these engines as I have made a few projects with both of these engines.

2. One (1) entry per user; although, like last time in Homebrew Idol 1, you can change your entry and you'll be judged on only one, rendering the previous submission null. You can also update your entry all the way up to the competition deadline.

3. Entries must be released here in the PSP Programming Section with the thread title "Homebrew Idol 2 Entry" and name of your entry.

4. Once your create your release thread here, you must email Greg a copy of your entry for submission: homebrewidol@psp-hacks.com.

5. Source code. You may choose to include your source code with your entry; however, it is not mandatory. If you do choose to include your source code, remember that you are the sole owner of your own code and we will not take possession or use of your code without your permission (For lessons and tutorial purposes using your code as example)

7. You must include a new PSP-Hacks.com Homebrew Idol 2 splash screen somewhere in your program - preferably at startup - incorporating the new Dashhacks logo. You will design and implement your own unique splash screen. Your splash screen must say "PSP-Hacks.com Homebrew Idol 2" somewhere inside your splash screen. Your splash screen can be a standalone png image or an animated one. The choice is yours. Here is a picture of the new dash-hacks logo.

8. All entries must be received by Midnight May 31st, 2009 EST Canada Time.

Both Myself, Blade_punk and Pirata Nervo will be handling your entries and reviewing them and updating this post with your entry and a link to your release thread. Blade and Pirata are both welcome to enter the competition however then they will not be part of the judging process.

Now for the good stuff PRIZES!

1. First place winner will be rewarded with $1000 dollars CASH (through paypal). That's right $1000 bucks Donated by Greg and myself. Plus custom status here with Homebrew Idol 2 winner title.

2. Second place will receive a new Xbox 360 donated by Yoko_kyuubi

3. Third place prize has yet to be determined and will be updated soon.

The way the winners will be chosen is by the PSP-Hacks.com staff members. We may also include a poll voting system to help us out with our decision.

So let's get started and good luck to everyone who enters!
