Yes, a higher version should work just the same. I think TMPGEnc Xpress 4 is out, so you can try that if you want.
You can use any editor that can output to the correct spec.
Oh ok kool well i have got my game boot to mps file but im have trouble with Converting it to Pmf Format ? can you help me with that abit more

Finally found UMD Tools
Does this method also work for 2.71 SE gameboots?

*EDIT*

My gameboot turned out with no sound, plays twice, and ends off in a plain bright white screen?
what did i do wrong....

Ya, Follow this guide and your gameboots will work on all firmware versions.
The only rule for 2.71se is that you have a maximum filesize of -+ 620MB.
Just keep your video bitrate under 2000kps and you should be OK.

I dont know.

How long is your source avi? If it is too short it will loop.

For the sound, try going to stream composer settings - environment, and check the box to enable 'insert audio and video data simultaneously'
