You say have tried different mplayers but you still have problems with the encoding DJ Max Portable 2 specifically then it is a random problem with compatibility. It has to do more with the specific structure of that file. It has only happened to me once with a cintro that i could not convert.

What you can do is to try this alternative to the command prompt (sorry about not mentioning it before, because I thought it was not going to make any differe since it also uses mplayer/mcodec ):

You need a certain Microsoft .NET Framework to be installed. The program will tell you one and will help you get to it if dont have it.
1. Install it (run setup.exe, select Siguiente three times)
2. Run LANDE PMF PLAYER, Choose the the SELECT on the psp to select PMF file, the program automatically converts the pmf to avi and saves it to test.avi in the same directory as the .exe (C:\Program Files\Landesoft\LANDE PMF PLAYER).

If this does not work, there will not be much you can do to solve at this moment.

Have you tried this with more than one file. If you only get this error for one particular file then, it is a random problem with compatibility.

GUIDE UPDATED

Simpler that ever to extract original audio WITHOUT the need of special hardware (just a PC and a PSP)

I'm having a small problem (well a big one really).

Here's a screenshot:

When I check the video in VirtualDub it has an error message of:

Now I think the problem is caused by the stopping at 1023mb(at around 90%) and writing a new header. If that's the case, is there some way to get it to write a continual single header?

The original PMF file is only 40.9MB however the converted AVI is 1.13GB, obviously I'd shrink it down with VirtualDub (if that matters any).

Also worth a mention that the other files (smaller then this file) have worked just fine.

Btw, can anyone tell me where to find the latest compiled mplayer.exe and mencoder.exe for Windows(with libavcodec/ffmpef H.264 support maybe)?

Also having this problem with some of the videos:

Is there any way to directly use the h264 stream without re-encoding it? Since this would result in quality loss and its already in a fairly highly compressed codec (h264).

um.... I followed your directions for getting the original audio for the file.

However, when I executed "At3 DecodeTest" it didn't create any .wav file on my memory stick.

I have firmware 3.72 if that affects anything.

What is that OFW or CFW? Anyway you will need to extract the at3 folder to the root of MS. And try making your kernel to 1.50

Hope it helps
