[TUTORIAL] noob friendly way to upgrade to higher custom firmware

i have tried

the Keycleaner "appears to work"

run the update and fails

i have tried the Hell Recovery program and it gets fatal errors :S

anyone ideas ??

just wanting to updat firmware from 3.90 to 5.0 ...

hi ppl. i upgraded from 3.90 m33-3 to 5.50 gen-d2 and now i can play new games without patching... but......... i can't charge my psp using the ac adaptor!

i think i can charge using usb but.... HELPPPPP with the ac pls!

You can test to see if your AC adapter is broken by trying to charge another PSP. If it works on another PSP then there is something wrong with the PSP, try formatting flash1 in Recovery Menu.

can i upgrade my psp 2000 whose cfw is 3.71 directly to 5.00m33-6?. . do i have to install kernel add on?. . tnx. .

u can... use my guide

5.00m33-6
run these installers from with 3.52 kernal mode set.(hold R trigger when starting psp to enter recovery menu, enter config, set game homebrew kernal to 3.52)

-download this link below

- u will get an update folder

-then download this link below

http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1568

- u will get 5.00 official firmware eboot

- rename it as 500.PBP

- put it into the update folder

- then connect psp to pc via usb cable or card reader

- put the update folder into /PSP/GAME/

- then run it from xmb

ok total newb here.....i mean NOOB....ok...my psp is a 1001 i am running cfw on it right now version 5.00 m33-6 i would like to upgrade to the latest so i guess my question is where do i start....do the files for a 3000 work on the 1001....do i need 1000 or 1001 specific files...im so lost at the moment i dont know where to start.....your help is much appreciated

I have just had my psp flashed by a fella he put 3.71 m33-2 on, reading what everyone has put on her and the fact that i cant get fifa 10 and a few other games to work recently, i am just getting a black screen and then ( game unable to load). That i am running very old firmare iam i right in thinking this????, also sorry about this how do i find out if mine is 2000 or 3000 think that is what i have seen all i know it is a psp slimline hahahaha
