Hey, I'm really nooby with the psp, but what is firmware, i have seen it around but i don't know what it is?

help please haven't done this for a while and forgot ,i have fat psp and was on 3.40oe-a,i want to be on 5.00m33.i've managed to get up to 3.52 m33 and i have downloaded the update patch m33 1234 rar my question is what to do with this .i try to put in game 150.i try to put in game 352 .but it just says corrupt data please help?

did you extract the patch before putting it into the psp?

go to system settings then system information. it will show you system version/firmware.
if it does NOT say M33 or GEN in it. then you are on official firmware and need a pandora.

Hello Flash670. Great Tut, however, this noobie just can't seem to follow. Please bear with me as I explain what I have done thus far.

I am currently running CFW 3.03 OE-A (hard to believe I actually did this).

After reading your TUT, here is what I figure I need to do:
1) Set Kernel to 1.50
2) Install to 3.52m33-4
3) Upgrade to 5.00M33-4
4) Install 1.50 Kernel for 5.00

So, here's what I've done thus far:
a) I saved my game data
b) reformatted the memory stick - (Not sure why I did this. After reading all the posts, I'm guessing I read it somewhere on this thread.)
c) Went to recovery mode to Set Kernel to 1.50 and under "Configuration", the Game Folder Homebrew (currently: 1.50 Kernel) - I changed it to that.

Now, I am trying to install 3.53M33-4 and I just can't seem to figure this out.
i) I downloaded all the files per the "If you're psp CFW is BELOW 3.52M33(2.71SE-3.40OE)
ii) I renamed the Eboot.PBP to 3.52.PBP on my PC.
iii) I attached the PSP to my PC and tried to copy teh 352.PBP to the root :/PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder - however I don't have an UPDATE folder on the PSP.
iv) I created an UPDATE folder on the Memory Stick via the USB connection then copied teh 352.PBP into the newly created UPDATE folder.
v) I unplugged the PSP from the PC and went to the Game folder from the PSP to run 352.PBP. Well, this is where I am stuck. It only shows Corrupted Data item on my PSP.

I would greate appreciate any assistance you can provide move me along the path. This seems so simple and I'm sure it is, however, it would appear that I am lower than a newbie....

try using method 2 to upgrade. the recovery flasher more simpler or well shorter.

I may need some help for manual upgrading.

1. Currently i am using 4.01m33-2 firmware, and CAN i upgrade to the latest firmware which is 5.01m33-4 directly?

2.I already tried few time to redownload the file and put it into the psp\game\UPDATE folder and rename it to 500.PBP, but on the psp game menu just show "CORRUPTED FILES".I don't think redownload may solved this issue because the file amount is the same even i redownload it.

REALLY APPRECIATE WHO CAN HELP ME..
