I have the datel Battery ServiceTOOL which allows me to make my battery a TOOL battery, then switch back to a regular battery..

anyways.. I can follow you all the way until step 4. I put in my TOOL battery and my PSP turns on and goes black without anything else happening to it. I turn it on holding the L shoulder button, I turn it on without that.. I push the X button... nothing seems to affect it besides taking the battery back out and reverting to regular old battery mode. Then I can play with regular old firmware. Borrrrrrring.

Hrm.

Help?

Oh yeah here's the product I'm using: http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/P..._EF000530.aspx

all are the same and do the same thing, so yes it will work, keep in mind, battery must be charged typicly more than 75% to load DCv3 or DCv4.
And ya, the battery changes the boot sequence on the psp from the usual boot from internal flash to boot off memstick(DCv3 or DCv4 or Pandora(1.5)
This is great information and should be added to the OP (about the 75% battery charge).

I will try charging my battery to 100% then trying the TOOL mode again. Will update to let you know!

Hi guys
I've got 3.93 Sony firmware on my slim and i'm trying to hack it using this tute.
I've got a 1Gb Sharper image MS - from what i've read its ok to use any MS. Is this correct?
I've got a datel Tool battery and i've followed steps 1-3 no probs.
BUT i get to step 4 and i'm having the same issue as some of the other posters. I put the Datel battery in and hold down L button. All that happens is the green power light comes on and the screen is blank. The datel battery says it is 100% charged in the menu system of my PSP so i'm not sure what else i'm doing wrong.

Please help!

Forget my post above!!! It worked. The battery was saying 100%, but i don't think it really was.

One thing that is definately incorrect here though................I used an 8Gb MS to do this and it did work!

Thanks so much for your help guys. I'm a huge Noob and this was easy. So much easier than any of the other tutes i've seen............and i've done a lot of reading!!

Cheers

I also charged my battery 100%. I'm now semi-convinced that this Batter Service Tool thing doesn't work as advertised (but its from codejunkies so.. what gives?).

Anything else I can do?

Haun7ed:
It sounds like you had the same problem as me. You can tell if its a Tool battery if the PSP doesn't come on to the normal menu when its in.
Even though it says 100% charged you really need to charge it for a few hours. I had problems doing this and I had to hold the tool battery in the PSP with my hand (with pressure) to ensure it charged properly for long enough.

Failing that, it may be something wrong with your Majic Memory stick

You will know when its working as a heap of writing will come across the screen for the 1-3minutes as suggested in the Tute. You don't need to actually turn it on to kick-off the download, it will do it automatically.

Good luck - its well worth the hassles!

I made sure that this TOOL Battery thing I'm using works... and it does indeed. I even hardmodded my regular battery (http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-har...ery-guide.html) with that guide to make sure. I'm now convinced it's the Magic Memory Stick's fault.. and will try another method besides this (very easy) one. Soon.

I've got a 4gb official sony ProDuo, store-bought, so we know that it SHOULD work.

I had some custom themes installed but deleted those through the XMB, and then formatted to be triple-sure. Is there a way to delete custom backgrounds as well? I'd think that it doesn't really matter but to be safe, I'd like to get rid of the background on here.

I know my battery was charged because I left it charging all night..

Thanks for the good luck, I hope I can get this sorted out soon.

Yeah, I did follow the guide to the letter. Maybe it doesn't work with my specific Sony Pro Duo 4gb? I figured it out using this program nonetheless. And while it's not as slick and streamlined as this method, it works for me!

Thanks for the guide BeAkEr.

Out of curiosity, can someone else try this method with the Sony Pro Duo 4gb? I'm curious as to why this wouldn't work for me.
