Hey,
Long time reader, first time poster...
I finally bit the bullet this afternoon and decided to put custom firmware on my 3.71 Slim. I borrowed a phat pandora battery off a friend and went and bought a 1gb memory stick pro duo. When i got home i did the first 3 steps just fine. I removed the usb cable, turned the psp off, took the slim battery out, and then i held the left shoulder button down while putting the phat pandora battery in, as soon as the battery went in, the power light came on, but the screen didn't turn on and no other lights indicated activity.....What am i doing wrong? Do i need to try another Pandora battery? another memory stick?
I did do a search but couldn't find anything relating to my problem, and read through this entire thread and still nothing.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Camo

To put noobz like myselfs minds at rest, if you use a program like this grader install or one of the many others to put pandora files on your mem stick you cannot brick yet if you have normal battery in as you cannot write to the psp internal memory until the battery is modified. So up to this point you could just format the mem stick if you chickened out and no harm done. Once the files are on the mem stick you then pandora-ize the battery. This now allows things to be changed within the psp itself (and this is when some of the older programs may have produced bricks). Now when I put the pandora battery in and press x it puts the cfw on the psp itself. I can then put the battery back to normal with my super soldering skills turn on psp and it will be sooper dooper psp ready to roll. Am I right this far?
The reason I ask is there seems to be problems with windows vista operating these installer programs. I have read somewhere that someone had vista x64 which didn`t work and another computer with vista x86 which did work. I haven`t got a clue what the difference is or how to find out which mine is. So am I right in thinking I can try to do the pandora mem stick stuff to see if it works without risking my psp as I don`t mod the battery till after I find out whether my computer can do it or not?

just to answer part of last question on wikipedia it say "All editions (of vista) except Windows Vista Starter support both 64-bit (x64) and 32-bit (x86) processor architecture" which erm,
helps me loads I`m sure.
It also says that vista comes complete with MS Net Framework 3.0. In BeAkEr`s first post it says you need 2.0 of this and I was like erm...??? so thats cleared that up for me.
I r bit fik, can you tell :bucktooth: :twothumbs:

you are correct about the fist assumption [from 1st post]

and this works great with vista [i'm running vista ultimate] i haven't got a 64 bit machine though and to be honest not many people do at this present time so i'm not sure of how well it will work with one
