The Hack Your PSP Mega-Thread

I'm a little confused about one thing. I have Official Firmware 3.73. When I try to update my firmware to 5.03 by placing EBOOT.PBP in /PSP/GAME/ I get the message:

"This game cannot be started. The data is corrupted."

Am I doing something wrong. I've read through most of the guides, but most never reference firmware 3.73.

EDIT: Read on Sony's website I needed to create an /UPDATE/ folder in PSP/GAME/ -- might want to add that to the guide for noobs like me

Added. Thanks for the feedback guys, I also added a few tips saying how to get ChickHEN to load. If you are still having trouble just keep trying, it will work eventually.

dude look im a noob an i want to ask you about the new way of hacking the psp (without pandora) i have a fat psp 1004 ok? but my fw is 5.50 can i use hellcats program and chikenHEN to make it a cfw or is it only for the 5.03 fw???

nope, wont work.
that way is for psps with firmware 5.03 or below.
ur only way of flashing custom firmware is using a pandora battery and magic memcard.

For the softmod, in the first page it says I need a previous hacked PSP. I'm wondering is it true? The first page and when I click on the link, the link says nothing about a modded PSP.

to make a pandora battery the softmod way, you'll need a psp that is runnning custom firmware, otherwise it won't be able to load the program that will create the pandora battery

yes but no.
if u have any fat psp1000 with firmware 5.03 and below u can do it too(or one of the very first slims that can convert batteries).
run chickHEN and then run corys open source battery tool to make battery, or even just use hellcats recovery flasher and install CF to this psp too...

Hello! I have a problem .... i had on my PSP a CFW (4.01 M33-2) and I've tried to make an update to 5.00 M33-4. I've put my Pandora Battery into my PSP with Magic Memory Card and I've started. After installing was finished I've checked if new firmware was installed and it was. But when I tried to play a ISO game ... i get this message .."The game could not be started (80020321).

Can someone help me to hack my PSP again ?

First time someone hacked my PSP .... so it's my first time when I try.

enter VSH menu (press select button from xmb) then scroll down and set umd mode/iso loader to SONY NP9660(The Best!)

and y post in the help section and the tutorial section with the same details?? it wud be sufficient to put it in one place as someone will answer ur question
