Thanks Scorpus, Great guide, Repped! BTW, you mentioned that you can tell if a PSP in unhackable by looking at box(?). I read you guide several times but I can't see the part that can tell me if a PSP inside the box is unhackable or not? Can you tell me please?

Also, seems like most of the PSPs on store now probably have the new Mobo and firmware, so are we SOL'd? or will there be a hack for TA-088 Mobo in the future?

Downgrading 2.80 and below

Works on firmware: 2.80 and below

Also Needed:
- Memory Stick
- Battery charged to more than 76%

This section is how to downgrade your 2.80 or below firmware PSP to 1.50

Instructions:

--NOTE-- If your PSP is anything below firmware 2.80 official, you will need to update to 2.80. Use this file. Place in /PSP/GAME and run -- http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/663

1) Download this file -- HERE

2) Back up your Memory Stick's files then format the Memory Stick (System Settings > Format Memory Stick)

3) Then restore default settings (System Settings > Restore Default Settings)

4) Take the UMD out if there is one in

5) Plug your PSP into a computer and run 2.80-1.50DownGrade.exe

6) Choose your PSPs drive by clicking "Browse." Then click extract. The necessary files are installed

7) In your PSP's XMB, go into the PHOTO menu then press on HEN_280. Your PSP will freeze, crash or flash a light blue color then reset. This may take a few tries to work

8) Go into the GAME menu and choose "TA-082 IdStorage Change." Let it do it's magic. Once it is finished it will reboot into the XMB. If you got a message saying "This psp doesn't seem to be a TA-082" thats fine.

Note: If you got an error upon running the program, you will need to try step 7 again.

9) In the XMB go to GAME and choose "PSP Update ver X.YZ." Once it is loaded, press X when asked

10) When your PSP restarts you will get an error message. Press O to restart your PSP again

11) Enter your settings again. If you get a black screen after pressing O in step 10 press the brightness button

You now have 1.50 firmware. Follow the steps in this post to upgrade to Custom Firmware -- http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/f133...9/#post1084293

Downgrading 3.03 and below

Works on firmware: 3.03 and below

Also Needed:
- Memory Stick
- Battery charged to more than 76%
- Unpatched copy of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

Instructions:

--NOTE-- This downgrader will only work on official firmware 3.03. If you are anything below you will need to upgrade using this file -- http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/958

This requires an unpatched copy of GTA: Liberty City Stories. A simple way to check is if it has the upgrade to 2.00 on it. For other methods of checking, look here

1) Download this file -- HERE

2) Plug your PSP into a computer then run 3.03_Downgrader.exe. Click the extract button.

3) On your PSP, load Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

4) When it gets to the part where it loads the saved game, the screen will go to black, then fill with light blue and then reset itself

5) Check that HEN is running by going to system settings, then to "System Information" and it should show up as system version 303 HEN. If not, try steps 3 and 4 again

6) Go to Game > Memory Stick and run the PSPtm Update x.yz update

7) The installer might ask you to patch the motherboard of your PSP; allow it to do so. When any confirmations come up, allow them. Then let the downgrader work its magic

8) Once it is finished press X to reset it. If the PSP comes up saying the settings are corrupt, press X or O to continue

You should now have a PSP running firmware 1.50. To upgrade to the latest firmware check this post -- http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/f133...9/#post1084293

If you don't have a copy of GTA: LCS (unpatched), you can't use that guide. Try either the ChickHEN guide or the Pandora guide

ok i'm trying to help a buddy downgrade using this, and apparently i'm not a noob and know what i'm doing, but everytime we click on the HEN in Photo, the psp doesn't freeze, it just shuts off. we go to game and the ta082 and update x.yz are there but the ta082 app won't start. we've tried doing this starting from the beginning three times now, but it's not working. the battery's charged fully, he's on 2.80 firmware.

Installing CFW using ChickHEN and Hellcat's Recovery Flasher

NOTE: This will not work with PSP-3000s [TA-090v2] or new PSP-2000s [TA-088v3]

Works on firmware: 5.03 and below

Also Needed:
- Memory Stick
- Battery charged to more than 76%

I will guide you through loading 5.00 M33 on a PSP using the latest TIFF exploit - ChickHEN.

Instructions:

--NOTE-- If your PSP is anything below firmware 5.03 official, you will need to update to 5.03. Use this file. Place in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE/ and run -- http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1645

1) Download this file, it will have everything you need for the following -- HERE

2a) Assuming you have 5.03 official firmware already installed you must now load ChickHEN. Go into the ChickHEN folder of the file you just downloaded. Copy h.bin to the root (ms0:/) of your PSP.

2b) If you have a fat (PSP-100x) then copy the image inside the FAT folder to the memory stick under /PSP/PHOTO/. If you have a slim (PSP-200x) then copy the folder inside the SLIM folder to the memory stick under /PSP/PHOTO/

3) Go into the Hellcat's Recovery Flasher folder and copy the RECOVERY folder to /PSP/GAME/

4) Now it's time to unplug your PSP from the computer and load ChickHEN. Go over to the Photo section of your PSP and click on the ChickHEN folder (if you have a Slim) or just click on the Photo section and scroll down to the .tiff image (for phat users). The screen should blank out then flash green, showing that ChickHEN has loaded. The PSP will then reboot

5) Scroll over to System Settings > System Information and check that next to System Software it says "5.03 ChickHEN." If it doesn't say this then you will need to try and load ChickHEN again. It may take a few times to work, in fact it took me 6 tries to get it to work when I was writing this guide. If you are having trouble loading ChickHEN, make sure there is no UMD in the drive, the USB cable is unplugged and maybe restore default settings under System Settings. [If you are struggling with ChickHEN, read this note BEFORE asking for help]

6) Assuming that ChickHEN has loaded, scroll over to GAME and load Hellcat's Recovery Flasher. When it loads, agree to the notice informing you that the program touches internal flash.

7) A brown menu will appear. Scroll down to Install M33 CFW and press X. An option menu comes up asking if you want to reset your settings. Choose the first option (reset). Then wait as CFW is installed. When it is done you will need to press X then boot up your PSP yourself

8) Fill out your settings again and enjoy 5.00 M33 on your PSP
