hi.. i have a few question. i had just bought a psp slim and its version is 3.71 from the store so im totallty noob about all about my PSP. so here are my questions:
1. is my firmware 3.71 official firmware?
2. do i still need the the 3.40,3.50 & 3.71 update, since im 3.71 already?
3. can i use my new PSP as HEN PSP? How would I know if it can be a HEN PSP
4. can i change my MS to a magicstick and battery to a Pandora with the Hellcat?
5. if i turn my MS to magicstick can i use it instead of normal memorystick?
6. if i turn my battery into a pandora, can i turn it to back or do i have to buy a new battery?

hope you could enlighten my noobness. thanks in advance. :D

1. Yes. OFW 371
2. Yes
3. Yes. But you need someone else with a HEN PSP to make DCv3 for you.
4. Yes. On custom firmware units only.
5. Yes. Just install Booster's Multi-IPL to the mS.
6. You can turn it back in a number of ways.

I've found even an easier way to use DCv3.
This is dedicated to all who have PSP slim and don't have access to any HEN PSP.
It took me 4 hours to flash my PSP slim running on OFW 3.72 to CFW 3.71 M33, and I had to hardmod my battery (which took me about 3 hours).
You need to get a genuine Memory Stick Pro Duo (but not bigger than 4 GB)

WARNING! Don't try to "open" your battery if you don't have enough patience. You'll end up screwing your battery.

Here we go:
First the files for MS
Get this file from here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NGOH440I (sorry megaupload... just get that damn toolbar)
And follow this guide here:
http://www.pspmod.com/forums/downloa...?do=file&id=22
Now you have Pandora MS with DCv3.

So for those who want to hardmod their battery go here:
Note: Skip this step if you have Datel Tool battery or Pandora Battery..
http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=116426
It's the easiest and the safest way to mod and restore it.
IGNORE the EASY INSTALLER you don't need it!!!

Now just insert your MS and then the battery.
DCv3 menu should appear (yep the newest version supports slim LCD)
Just press X.
After flashing just restore your battery.

THE END

Hope it was helpful. Just to say I did all this and it worked.
So good luck.

DCv3 doesn't equal over 80MB. But I figured you have both Pandora and DCv3 with the Sony update files in them. Oh well. And your installation method is wrong, you still need to reformat to create the 256kb partition for Pandora, and write the ipl. Without doing any of these, DCv3 won't even work in the first place.

You did read the guide, didn't you?

Quote:
The Reason for the FILE being so HUGE is that.... it's an ALL IN ONE package..
everything you need to make the pandora is package together. either you are trying to make SLIM pandora or PHat pandora.. this package includes everthing you need..
no need to search and download things from Different site..

package included:

KD & Reg
MSIPL.bin
MSPformat
MSINST
FIRMWare ( Slim or Phat )

package is SUB categorized via

Despertar v3 folder
Original pandora folder
README 1st ( tools files )
AND
Quote:
Heres a guide.

*extract the file into your desktop:
*Open README 1st folder
*highlight and copy MSINST and MSPFORMAT FOLDER
*open My Computer
*Left Click the C: drive once (Note: if you double click, it will open C: drive)
*Now RIGHT Click on C: drive and PASTE
==============
*now you need to ENABLE USB MODE on psp
*make note of the psp drive letter
==============
*Open Cmd window ( Start > RUN > CMD )
*Type in the following command "CD C:\" (note: with-out quote mark) HIT enter
*it should take you to -----> C:\>
*type the following command "mspformat\mspformat.exe X" ( where X=psp drive letter) note: NO quotation
*Press Y to continue
*it should say "Drive succesfully formatted, and partition moved."
*disable USB mode
*remove the memory stick and re-insert back
*re-enable USB mode
*Now go back to the Desktop where you extracted those file earlier
*Choose the Pandora Folder you want to make ( original(phat) or despertar(slim)
*Once you choose the folder you want dbl click and open it
*Select all and COPY
*open the psp memory stick and PASTE
*go back to CMD window.
*type the following command "msinst\msinst.exe X msinst\msipl.bin" (again where X=psp drive letter) note: NO quotation
*It should ask you " Are You Sure ? [Y]
*Press Y and Hit ENTER
*The last line should say " Write MS BOOT CODE "

thats it your done..
So no need for HEN PSP anymore. And demonchild I guess you missed it but in the guide the ms is formated and the partition is moved, and it's also said how to install IPL.

BTW. All credit goes to Mexi_chino (for files) and Da.Milenko (for guide)

Raulpnc you have 2 ways.:
1.Do you have access to HEN (homebrew enabled) PSP and you don't have Pandora battery (Or don't want to mess with your battery)? (If so then go with demonchild guide)
2. If you do not have access to HEN PSP and you have pandora battery (or you want to hardmod your battery), then go with the links I posted above.
