Change your PSP XMB icons on ANY FIRMWARE (1.5+3.02 OE), to anything you want! Follow tutorial and download the files to use. Really easy.

USE ONLY THE CORRECT VERSION OF TOPMENU_PLUGIN.RCO OF YOUR FIRMWARE
INSTALL CUSTOM FIRMWARE BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT THIS

BACK UP YOUR TOPMENU_PLUGIN.RCO BEFORE DOING THIS

THIS CAN CAUSE A BRICK! NO ONE WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT





Extract the Icon maker file and you should have another two RAR archives.

xmb-icons-250.rar -- can only be used to make the topmenu_plugin.rco for any firmware above 2.00 (which includes custom firmware)

xmb-icons-150.rar -- can only be used to make the topmenu_plugin.rco for 1.50 (no network icon)

xmb-icons-3.02FIX.rar ---Can be used for 3.02 OE

Extract the one you are going to use and you should be ok


OK first lets make your Icons!
[*]64x64 pixels[*]8 bit color or 256 colors (same thing)[*]BMP Format[*]Transparency is defined by "first color in palette order"


NOTE:The PSP only shows about 60x64 out of the icon. You still need to have 64x64. So leave about 4 pxls of border otherwise it will get cut off.

They also have to numbered in the order that they are in the XMB


Code:

1.bmp -- Settings Icons

2.bmp -- Photo Icon

3.bmp -- Music Icon

4.bmp -- Video Icon

5.bmp -- Game Icon

6.bmp -- Network Icon (only applicable to the 2.50 Icon maker)

So you know your going to be using MS Paint. Probably been a while since you opened it...

[*]Now that you've made your icons, its time to make your topmenu_plugin.rco
[*]Copy your newly created icons to wherever you extracted your xmb icon maker package.
[*]Once you do that all you have to do is double-click the start.bat program and a command console should pop up.

Let it do its thing and once is says konecu scriptu... just hit any button to close the window.

You should have a newly created topmenu_plugin.rco in the same folders as the bmps just waiting to be flashed.

[*]Use the latest version of pspfiler to perform the flashing of topmenu_plugin.rco

~Flashing The Topmenu_plugin.rco To Flash0/VSH/Resource~

It should already be in english, if not, press select then O then X to make it english.

Next enable hacker mode by holding L1 and Left then pressing R1

Go down to your RCO Press Square and then press X on it, then select the option to copy it to ramdisk

Then press start until you reach flash0:/

Scroll down to VSH and press O then hover over Resource and press X

Then select the option to paste all files from ramdisk and wait for it to get to 100%

Once this has been done just HOME and view your xmb!

You should also add in that X-Flash can be used for a complete firmware dump, just in case someone manages to really screw it up.

Couldn't you just have recovery on...

I'm still stuck on making the icons ? How do we do the transparent part using photoshop ?

Yes but every other black pixel becomes transparent also and i'm left with an icon that can barely be seen. I have a picture of ryu's face and it has a lot of shadow. The shadow disappears as well as the black background

Try to make the black lines you want to keep in a dark dark gray. That may help.

i have been having the same issue. even when i change the palette to have fuscia as the first color, it defaults back to black and my Ergo Proxy icons are now pink, clear and GAY!!!!!
