this is a GREAT game I recommend it to everyone. the concept is simple, you have a ball called a katamari and you roll objects that stick onto the ball. sounds boring right? not so, first you start rolling up thumbtacks and candies and then when it gets bigger you start rolling up cats and dogs. If you keep going you roll up humans and cars. Then you can roll up houses and then huge skyscrapers! And in special stages you can roll up entire mountains and islands! graphics: 10/10 the graphics are very good and if you've ever played the ps2 version this one easily rivals those graphics. sound:10/10 the music is great! it ranges from strange (yet funny) japanese beatboxing to frank sinatra himself. Not to mention the sounds of the humans and other objects when you roll them up. Controls: 7/10 the controls on the psp are a little hard to get used to. The first few missions are very awkward trying to get used to them. But if you keep playing everything will seem easier. It is very awkward at first but you'll get the hang of it. replayability: 9/10 there are 16 missions that you have to do to beat the game. Once you beat all of them you can still go on "volcano island" where there are additional missions you can play. You can also play all the missions you've beaten to get a higher score or roll up any treasures and people you've missed. There is also a fun 2d version at the end you can play. Overall: 9/10 This game is great. It definitely belongs in your library of games. If you like loco roco and patapon type of games you'll love this one. Only bad things are the controls and that you'll need a big memory stick. This game takes about 1GB of space but it's worth it.

...I don't like it. It was looks like it WOULD be fun, but the controls fucking suck. I played a couple levels and finally quit when I passed the one with the ant at the volcano. I replaced it on my mem stick with Chili Con Carnage.

One of my favourite games. Both PS2 games were definitely better solely because of the dual analogue controls. That's my only real criticism of this port. It is supremely weird with a unique blocky art style and the music is awesome (for those that like Shibuya-kei).
There's something so satisfying about rolling up entire cities into a ball. |
