I'm a huge fan of Jewel cases and when I saw the Joytron PSP Slim jewel case I instantly became very fond of it. From the images on the Joytron site, the case looked great and offered protection for the system.

However, when I got the case yesterday, it was lacking one big part of the PSP-case package. It had no screen protection. Although I was disappointed, the case is still pretty cool. It's extremely different than any other jewel case I've had (and I've had about 4...). It keeps the promise of being extremely slim and it even fits in the PSP pouch (unnecessary, but I'm paranoid). It's extremely scratch resistant, unlike most other jewel cases and is fairly easy to install if you read the directions. What is unique about the case is that it comes in pieces. A flap for the UMD drive (as shown in picture A, it allows UMD access while protecting the silver ring) and it has two other flaps for the battery compartment and the memory stick side. Another cool feature of this case is that it allows Memory Stick access, something I've never had before with a jewel case. The case is held together by hooks, these hooks are pretty strong, so it's hard to open the case at times.

Overall, the Nuritech Joytron case is very sturdy, although I would of liked screen protection, I think it is well wroth the 20 bucks I paid. It's slim and has very cool features I've never seen before.

Ratings
Appearance (5/5) - Looks very stylish and keeps the PSP slim, well, slim.
Durability (4/5) - It's a jewel case, so the life expectancy of it before it ends up with scratches all over the place isn't expected to be high. However, for the past day or two, I've yet to discover any scratches, this is some news to me.
User-Friendliness (3/5) - It's quite hard to open the case, it's very strong, but if I want to open it to take the battery out or something, it takes some effort.
Innovation (5/5) - Definitely very innovative, it's like no other jewel case I've ever seen.
Value (3/5) - It's quite expensive for a case at 20 bucks + shipping, but for the most part, it's worth the money.

Overall - 4/5

I've had this for about two months now and love it. It works perfectly with the slim and the screen protection wasn't a big deal as I already had that covered.

For slim users, this is a must.

That looks sweet. Might just have to get the Silver Chrome skin for my Phat PSP. :twothumbs:

hm.. this looks like a great alternative case for the slim until the PGP comes out (hopefully)
I think I should just use this case with a screen protector.

I'd try a new armorlite, but those cases leave all the buttons exposed and that bugs me. I'll stick to my Carbonite Han for now.

Ever since I bought the psp slim when it first came out, I had been waiting for a psp protector that wouldn't interfere with the controls without having to take the protector off to play. I eventually came across a forum where there was much praise for the Joytron PSP Slim skin case, so I decided to order it and I am glad that I did.

The case comes in four parts. One part fits on the front while three parts fit on the back, allowing access to the UMD without removing the skin case. The skin case itself protects the psp from being scratched pretty well, and is also nice because now I don't get fingerprints all over my psp. There is just enough openings for every function so that you don't have to remove the case. An opening on the side allows the memory stick to be changed just like before the case was added, so the skin case does not interfere with the usability. Since the skin case is not too bulky and the buttons are also given just enough room, playing the psp feels almost just as natural as without a skin case but with the added feel that your psp has protection.

The only thing that you can't do with the skin case on is that you can't change the battery without removing one of the back pieces of the case, but I never really remove the battery from my psp anyways. If you were to want to take the skin case off, it may be a bit confusing at first but the case comes with both installation instructions and removal instructions. Also, when I recieved the skin case, it came with a hand written letter thanking me for my purchase which was pretty nice. Overall, the skin case is extremely good and does everything I'd want it to do. I can't think of any way that the skin case could be made better. Also, it does not cover the screen, which means if you want to protect the screen you'll need to get a screen protector.
