Upgrading from 3.03 OE-B to latest custom firmware.

Hi,

I have not followed the scene for some time now. I'm currently on 3.03 OE-B, is it easy to upgrade to the latest M33 firmwares?

Appreciate it if anybody can help.

very easy..
go on bcman's "quick guide for new users" sticky and click the calo's easy noob installer package for 3.71 M33
then update to patch 4

meh, u must install 3.52M33 firstr with update 4, then u can install 3.71M33 with update 4 and 1.5 addon patch v2

Hi,

I have tried using the install package & install the upgrade, but it says my psar is incorrect. What's wrong? :(

DOWNGRADING/UPGRADING TIPS:
Before any upgrade/downgrade, a few things to keep in mind,
Charge ur battery so its 100% full, AC power plugged in when u run the upgrade/downgrade, backup any valuable files/savedata from ur psp, restore psp to default settings, format memstick before coping files to psp, remove any umd from ur psp, read readme file, NEVER TURN OFF PSP DURING DOWNGRADE/UPGRADE!

first use this 3.52M33

(if u get a error saying u need 3.52-3 or -4 installed, goto recovery>config and change game kernal to 3.52)

when all done, just format memstick to delete useless install files and create folder structure...
also, from xmb press select, this is vsh menu, scroll down and set umd mode/iso loader to SONY NP9660(now u dont need a umd in to play iso's)
Also boost ur cpu speeds to max for game and xmb 333/166

I can't download 3.71 M33 from rapidshare, it says i exceed the limit or somethin.

BTW, wat's 1.5 kernal addon patch v2 for? And can i still use emulators?

yes, 3.71 was sorta developed for slim(slim has no 1.5 support for lcd screen) so its a patch that install 1.5 after the fact...

There were a few other problems other than the screen but DaX rewrote a new driver for it which can be seen in the latest universal unbricker so now not only can text be blitted but we are one step closer to 1.5 kernal support on slims
