Can you upgrade using any of the firmwares on this page? http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/fi...mwares/page/3/
Remember, you can go up but not down when you're using OFW.

Seems to be working. I've managed to get myself up to firmware 3.9 but it won't let me install 4.00, 4.01 or 4.05. I'm getting a different error code now- this time it says 'the game cannot be started'. Where do I go from here?

Try using the 5.03 update now maybe? You shouldn't have to go through all of the updates to get to the latest. What I had you do was just a test to see if the PSP would use any update files. Don't use the 5.03 you downloaded before; use the 5.03 link we gave you earlier and download it again. It's possible the file you downloaded just corrupted on the way to your computer.

Still the same issue. Tried downloading four times now. Not too sure what the issue is really...

I'm not sure either... At this point I recommend getting the pandora battery and MMS.

Stupid problem, but when running gpsp, my psp will not go into sleep mode when I turn it off. Instead, it just restarts the hard way back to my xmb. It'd be nice to get it back to normal so I can turn off the psp, then back on and pick up where I left off immediately like in my ISO's.

I'm on a phat, 5.00m33, the 1.50 kernal should obviously be installed, ect.

As far as I know, there's no way to fix it, you'll just have to deal with it. You cannot put any homebrew/emulators to sleep, or it will hang and restart.
