1-Hacking your PSP

Q:I have a PSP I wanna hack it. any ideas ?

2-Simple meanings of some words used in the PSP Community

Q:What's the meaning of XMB ?
A:It's the X cross media bar. Basically , it's the main menu of the psp which includes : ( network - game - music - videos - settings )

Q:What's the meaning of ' root of the memory stick ' ?
A:It's the first thing you see when you double click your PSP drive letter in your PC . basically it's the place where there are the folders ' PSP-PICTURE-MUSIC-VIDEO-ISO' and other stuff

3-Fixing problems of isos not showing/game could not be started

Q:I downloaded an ISO but when i put it in my memory stick it shows as a corrupted data
A:Where did you put your ISOS ?

Q:In the Game folder
A:You don't put the isos there , you put them in the ISO folder in the root of your memory stick. if you don't have an ISO folder then make one

Q: I put the ISO file in the ISO folder, but still no game. what gives?
A: If you dont have a PSP/GAME/ folder, (it can remain empty) your MS will read "no games installed", and not show the ISO files you have put in the ISO folder.So format the memory stick from your PSP to create folder structure and stuff ( backup all what you want from your memory stick first )

Q:The ISOS still don't show up , any other ideas ?
A:Sure. Make sure the name of the iso/cso is less than 20 characters , otherwise it won't show up

Q:Urgh , Still doesn't show up , Any other ideas
A:Try formatting flash1 from advanced in recovery menu . If didn't work then follow the part of hellcat's recovery flasher to reflash firmware

Q:When i ever run an ISO , it says game couldn't be started (80020321)
A:Press Select while in XMB , vsh menu appears , Change umd iso mode to m33 driver or sony np9660 (4-How to view VSH Menu)

Q:When i Press select , nothing appears
A:Reboot to recovery menu , go to configuration and make sure use vsh menu is set to enabled

5-How to reboot to recovery menu

Q:How to reboot to recovery menu ?
A:Turn off the PSP completely by holding the power button up for about 5 seconds. turn it on holding the R trigger . a menu shall appear called recovery menu

Q:My PSP is the one with the temp hack so if i turn off the PSP the hack will be gone and i will have to do it again
A:When in XMB , keep pressing L+R then press square , it'd change between vshmenu/recovery/disabled , and that'd appear on the left side of the screen , if you want recovery menu , then keep it at recovery , and when you press select and you'll be at the recovery menu , same for vsh menu , and disabled mean
Keep in mind the recovery menu of 5.03 GEN-A/B are messed up(OK means the option is functioning properly)

- Togle USB = OK OK
- Configuration = ok
- Skip Sony: not work (need not severe)
- Hide corrupt icons = Skip sony logo
- game folder HB ok
- autorun EBOOT ok
- fake region ok
- use vsh menu ok
- XMB USB Device ok
- Charge device with usb ok - Load Device with USB ok
Use M33 network update ok
- Use version TXT ok
Hide MAC ok
- Use game categories = ok
- Reboot in official firmware> not working
- Run program at = Advanced Menu
- Advanced CPU SPEED =
- CPU SPEED = Plugins
- Plugins = registry hack
- Registry hack = device suspends
- Suspend device = reboot in official firmware
- Reset system = quit

6-How to play new games which require 5.55+

Q:This didn't help me , any other ideas
A:It might be a new game which requires 5.55/6.00/6.10
You have two options :
1-Upgrade to 5.50 GEN-D if you have a phat or a slim with a hackable mobo. To upgrade , follow the part down in complicated questions of updating CFW
2-If you have a slim with an unhackable mobo/3000 . Then you need to upgrade to 5.03 GEN-B . Follow this guide. Click here

7-Fixing Chickhen running issues

Q:ChickHen drives me crazy! it takes a lot of time for me to get it to work
A:Try this chickhen mod . Click here

8-How to install plugins

Q:How to install plugins ?
A:Follow the readme of the plugin for which file to copy . it will say in the readme put this line to vsh.txt/game.txt/game150.txt or it'll come with the text files it needs. the plugins with their txt files go to SEPLUGINS folder in the root of your memory stick . if you currently have a plugin and wanna install another one and both have lines to be put in your vsh.txt/game.txt/game150.txt . then just open the vsh.txt/game.txt/game150.txt which came with the other plugin you wanna install and copy the lines in them to the correct ones in your SEPLUGINS
For example : the line copied from your new vsh.txt is copied to your old vsh.txt in your SEPLUGINS folder
NOTE: To enable your plugins go to recovery menu , plugins and enable or disable the ones you want

9-Fix PC not reading the PSP memory stick correctly

Q:My PC reads my memory stick as very small thing drive or read another files which aren't in my memory stick
A:While in XMB , press select and change usb device to memory stick

10-How to use the pandora battery + MMS

Q:I have a pandora battery and a magic memory stick to unbrick/downgrade my psp . how to use them ?
A:Remove the pandora battery and the magic memory stick from the psp . insert the magic memory stick first , hold L trigger then insert pandora battery and keep holding L trigger till a menu appears then let L trigger go freely . Choose the option from the menu which is 'install X.XX M33' or 'install X.XX CFW' I don't know its name exactly (Keep in mind that pandora + MMS only works with Phat PSPS and hackable slims which don't have ta-088 v3 motherboard, which means it won't work with a slim with the unhackable ta-088 v3 mobo or any PSP 3000)

12-How to know your PSP motherboard type

To know your PSP motherboard type , you need to allready have a hacked PSP/PSP with homebrew enabled . Use PSP ident:

Instructions :

1-Download PSP ident : Click here

2-Extract it and copy 'PSPident' folder resulted from the extraction to ms0:/PSP/GAME/

3-Go run PSP ident from game in XMB

4-It'll tell you the info we need and save a pic of that info in ms0:/PICTURE/

In the Pic , look for the motherboard type and next to it you'll find the type of your motherboard.
