I have other iso and cso games that work fine. I have tried three different mgs files they all show on my psp on the memory card. But once i got to boot it up the mem card light blinks a bit then freezes for a min or two and then the psp shuts off. I am running cfw 5.00 m33-6 with kernel 150. Note I also had mgs portable ops plus working. I am at my wits end here and really want to play this. I even converted the original file from cso to iso and then after that did the same thing shortened the files name and it still does the same.

Did you rip anything from the ISO before compressing to CSO ?
In recovery menu -> advanced, Try formatting flash1 and reset settings as well.

Your flash1 could be corrupt. Formatting it will restore default settings. It is completely safe. In recovery menu -> advanced, format flash1. You will have to re-enter default language, time zone, time and date, nick name and reconfigure network settings.

Shortening the file name won't make a difference since the the ISO is listed and he's able to load it. Since he originally downloaded a CSO, i would say a bad rip. The only other thing i would suggest to the OP, if it was originally a CSO, it's possible BOOT.BIN was ripped from the CSO. In the recovery menu -> advanced -> advanced configuration, make sure Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO is disabled.
