No, it's only unhackable if the PSP came with 4.01 or above pre installed. Since it's a fat there is no problem. The problem is actually a motherboard issue not a firmware issue.

-Also in Recovery i recommend u boost ur CPU speed to max for both options.
-Also in Recovery is Configuration folder, make changes so it looks like this:
skip sony logo - enabled
hide corrupt icons - enabled
game folder homebrew - 3.xx(depending on firmware) or 1.5 for homebrew(fat only and u need to install the 1.5 kernal addon patch for each different CF)
autorun program @ -disabled (this is used to recover back to 1.5 or run a eboot if u mess up ur psp, 3.71M33 and under CF, does not work on 3.80M33 or 3.90M33)
umd mode - SONY NP9660/M33 Driver (u dont need a umd in anymore, and it plays any iso/cso)
I'm not sure what do you mean by this:

Sorry if it was asked before... =)

when users have upgraded from a lower CF such as 3.40OE to the latest M33, bugs/glitches have occured more then once, they are fixed by formating flash1.
i do it everytime i upgrade just to be in the clear...

Default 5.00 M33-4 CFW question

Hi guys,

I have upgraded to CFW 5.00 M33-4 and i have a few issues when trying to play games. I have followed alot of BCmans stuff (which was very very good) but i still seem to be getting the error:

"The game could not be started. (80020148)".

I have tried several different ISO/CSO files and they all seem to give me the same error. My memory card is real, i have used Dark Alex's CFW/updates.....but nothing works.

Could someone possibly note down what all the settings in the Recovery Menu should be?

With this firmware do i have to still install the 1.5 kernel add-on?

Or could someone even recommend a ISO file that plays (or a recommended web page) that i could use to make sure that my PSP is able to play these games or even if my psp has installed the CFW correctly?

I know guys, alot of questions, but i have really been racking my brains on how to fix this, and still reading so many things on the interet to help..but nothing so far!!! PLEASE guys....help me.....

on the xmb (main menu of your psp) hit select, then make sure that the UMD mode is set to M33 or Sony NP9660, that might help.

Thanks for thre reply dude....

But its still not working, today i have just copied 2 games from original UMD's and they still have the same problem. Pro Evo 09 gives me an error and Smack down v raw 09 turns the power off after a few seconds....!!!!

Do you think it could be worth trying to downgrade to a lower firmware?

Cheers

hey!

i have a psp slim (2003) with official firmware 3.60. I have a pandora battery and memory card.

I want to put customr firmware on but am confused because there are so many tutorials, i would like the easiest possible.

can i upgrade straight to custom firmware or do i have to downgrade 1st??

i can see links for downgrading firmwares 2.8, 3.03. 3.50 etc but nothing for 3.60?

any help appreciated.

thanks
