Unhappy My PSP is not charging, help please!

My PSP is not charging. I thought the charger is broken, then I got a new charger and it's still not charging then I got a new battery and still not charging. It must be the 'DC in' on the PSP that is faulty, what shall I do?

Default PSP backlight

The connector to the psp backlight fell off, like literally fell off so now I have no where to put the ribbon so I can't see anything. Do I have to replace the motherboard or just buy a new PSP (it's a 2000)

hum picture please cause what i belive your tell me is the the whole connector fell of from the mobo right .

it is possible to solder points on ribbon to different location to get the voltage you need for backlight if this is the case but i need to see photo to see if there are available contact points left where connector used to be .

if not we need to identify the battery and negative points on the back light ribbon solder wires to the points and find a battery source contact from mobo to solder to as well as neg point and in theory should work

2. Backlight
0.5mmP 4Pin FPC (Reference Connector :Kyocera Elco Corporation Product No. : 6298 Bottom contact type)
The Bottom contact type can be selected according to side of mounted connector and terminal side of FPC.
Terminal
No. Signal Function
1 VLED- LED Power Source Input terminal (Cathode side)
2 NC No Connection
3 NC No Connection
4 VLED+ LED Power Source Input terminal (Anode side)

if you can get some one to connect a meter to there slim and test location 1/4 on the pins coming from psp connectors on pins 1/4 can verify these are the location for voltage outputs and what voltage then we can go from there confirming correct location to solder wires to lcd back light ribbon if i have a chance i will do so but cant promise as i am swamp with work this week the offer stands you can send it to me and i can take a look at it .

Hey guys. I just got in a PSP Slim (2006) to do a full backplate and faceplate change. This would probably be my 30'rt time doing the procedure. Now I had know problems until I came to the UMD door. This is the first PSP I have see with a clip to hold the UMD door in place. Its a very good idea. But this is my first time dealing with it. Its pretty small and hard to fit back in place. So could you guys look at the picture below and make sure I am not trying to fit it in the wrong place? Any tips are appreciated. I'm not a new so feel free to be harsh.

I have a fat PSP and I put a new faceplate on about a year ago and the thumbstick does its own thing completely and I can't control it for anything. I've had this problem since then but I haven't bothered to try and fix it.

I can't take any pictures since I gave it to my girlfriend to use as an mp3 player but I want to surprise her and fix it.

I've talked to one or two people and they told me it was because of a little cubic rubber thing with copper strips inside that carried the signal from the thumb nub to the board. I was told I had to readjust it or turn it around, something like that, or to get a new nub from a broken psp and try that out, but none of it works. Do I need a new one of the rubber thing?

EDIT: Thanks for the suggestions, I'm going to take it apart and try those out once I get the PSP back tonight. I hope all goes well.

EDIT 12/8: I took the faceplate off and made sure the rubber connector was in correctly and that the clips on the joystick were bent correctly but it still does its own thing, I test it in the web browser, the only difference is now it moves quickly when before it moved rather slowly, and now when I move the stick left the cursor moves to the right VERY slowly.

TRY THIS FIRST IF ALL ELSE FAILS CONTINUE TO TUTORIAL
JOYSEN RECALIBRATE JOYSTICK http://www.consolespot.net/821-RELEASE-JoySen-142b.html
CALIBRATE http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...ead.id=3147030

give these suggestions a try and we will go from there

Well i would fist make sure that the rubber connector is seated properly
"clear side up" you will know what i am talking about when you adjust it

1. also if the rubber connector appears to be in good shape no need to replace

2.make sure you tighten the screw tight but don't over tighten

3 .make sure that faceplate is seated correctly especially on the joystick side

4. check that when you transferred the joystick from the old to the new faceplate it is
seated correctly in the housing of the faceplate

5.on the bottom of the joystick you will 2 prongs if they are flat very gently pull them out a little becareful no to break them you want them bent out just enough to make contact with the metal plate that seats below joy stick where rubber connector is

fat or slim info below is for fat although breakdown should work for a slim not sure if slim buy new joystick and replace or give below a try

1. have you opened your psp or removed face plate
2. if so see if you have lost the rubber joystick connector located at base see photo
3. buy new joystick and replace
4 if you have lost rubber connector look here your may be clear but this is the same one
this is for

fat http://www.psxboy.com/797_Conductive...-Joystick.html
slim http://www.psxboy.com/832_PSP2000-jo...placement.html

heres a old tutorial check it out might help

check to make sure rubber connector at base of joystick is in correct

make sure that the lcd bracket is sitting flush with mobo
also while the game is started and character is moving loosen back screws on the joy stick side and see if it stops.
last but not list give this a look see.

does you joystick work sometimes and sometimes not or moves on its on if so check this out

i have just finished repairing a psp with this problem (can control sometimes , sometimes cant ,menu options skip on there own ) before you pay 40+ dollars to have someone fix it why try your self this has worked remove screws from faceplate opening psp will void your warranty just had to say it so if you have one use it

once ypu have removed faceplate flip ove to joystick side

now at the bottom of the joystick are 2 metal clips see picture these have to make good contact to the metal plate inwhich joystick sits on see photo READ WARNING if it does not can cause you not to beable to move or movement on its own these contacts get flat from downforce put on joystick

at this time if you choose to change joy stick just remove the 2 screws to joystick and replace
now check and see if the clips shown in diagram above are flat or missing if missing need a new joystick if flat follow directions BE VERY CAREFUL THESE CLIP WILL BREAK IF TO MUCH FORCE IS USED IF THESE CONTACTS APPEAR WEAK YOU MAY JUST WANT TO GET A NEW JOYSTICK if not continue take a knife and gently lift the clips use judgement on how much remember we want to make good contact and also not have to open psp again now once you have finished replace faceplateand only put the 2 screws on the joystick side in this way we can test and see if repairs are good or if we need to pull clips out more and thats it let me know if this helped you

or if you wanna take joystick apart to check it out while waiting on a new one here

go to ebay 9.00 plus ship install yourself if you want to take it apart while you wait on it remove the metal clip at base and also included photo's how to put back together but much easier to buy a new one just posted this in case you are bored and wanna give it a try check for chipped or broken piece's

here's what it looks like when you take it apart

correct order when putting back together is E to F / D to E / C to D / B to C / A to B

I bought my slim around 8 months ago. Its on CFW 5.00 m33-3. There are many scratches on the UMD tray and Battery cover and also the circle which encloses the PSP logo. Is there any way to remove these scratches.

Also due to the continuous usage of the analog nub there seems to be an circular impression on the surface of my PSP. But the analog nub never touches the surface even when it is pushed up completely. I tried wiping the impression but it just remains. Any ides over here??

Does the analog nub or any of the PSP buttons become spoilt due to excessive usage??

To remove scratches i am sure there is some product out there that will claim to remove scratches , but to be honest if you are concerned with them now i dont think you would be satisfied with them you want the new look you have to get it new you can

if you decide to buy replacement parts try and buy from a seller that may have the battery cover and umd cover with combined shipping this way you arent dealing with 2 different sellers and normally if they are selling psp parts they should have a selection of other parts to

1.get a battery cover and umd cover from ebay or psp parts site and replace them "buy new " also can get a new faceplate and replace

check here
battery covers
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories

umd cover http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...+psp+umd+cover

2. buy a slim psp cover there are many nice ones out there that completely encase psp and still allow you to enjoy your system

chick these out
check here http://nuritech.us/sony-psp-sf-coati...skin-case.html
leather black http://www.petrastechshop.com/jopspskcalbl.html

Varies with usage and individual excessive usage wears down just about everything
Does the analog nub or any of the PSP buttons become spoilt due to excessive usage

I have not purchased any items from sellers i have posted i am simply given you examples of where to go and what options you have use your own judgement on what sellers you want to purchase from
