Default great time for this!

is my psp bricked or broken? i was playing a game like normal then i went and got a shower and wanted to play again. normal stuff.

when i came back, i tried to turn my psp on and the only thing i could see was what looked to be a gash in the screen, but it was only visable when the psp was turned on. if i hit the directional buttons i can hear the clicks and stuff too which i thought was weird.

thats it. thanks.

if this means anything - i recently updated my psp to 5.00 m33, but i had a 4.01 theme on it.
also i just installed CWCHEAT to my psp.
-this is my madden 09 psp slim also.

been away from the theme customize may want to ask in the theme section those guys know there stuff but

make sure theme is compatible have the correct cxmb-for-500-m33 Here= http://pspslimhacks.com/cxmb-for-500-m33-released/

the correct ctf theme for your custom firmware

could be a issue with your 4.01 theme running on is your 5.00 m33
is your theme flashed or or ctf themes if ctf not sure but you would need the
correct plugin to get it to work on your 5.00 m33 this is more of a software than hardware issue if this is the case address the theme issue and if problem still exist

i would lean towards a blown back light fuse but only after you have resolved the theme issue would i come to this conclusion if it exist after and would require further question

any one experiencing some thing similar feel free to post your suggestions remember there will be a bi month incentive for the tech person that helps resolve the most issues

Hey 1God1King, recall my broken hinge mishap with the power ribbon to my backlight? Well get this:

After fixing the ribbon (a little tape worked great!), I noticed I had somehow knocked the right speaker plug out. So I got around to opening it up and fixing it (i just unplugged it and plugged it back in and all was well). It came time to putting the backlight ribbon back in the slot...

I was using tweezers to slip it back in, and some stuff happened and I ended slicing half the ribbon. I figured I had to buy a new one. I thought I might try to fix it. This and that happened and everything is put back together. Check out my fix before I taped it up:

Funny thing is, the right speaker went out again. I think I'm going to stick to headphones from now on.

Great job Asuraku so all is well aceppt for the speaker right ?

hope to see you helping out others with repairs here and thanks for posting your quick fix may help some one else out in the same situation I will look in to the speaker problem your having may just need to replace the speaker think i have some arounfd here some where when i find them i will shoot you a pm for your address to send you a pair or one if thats all you need

check this i there is a sound fuse here locate the clip for the backlight
then turn over the motherboard so you look at the back of it
you'll see 2 fuses there
one is for the speakers one is for the backlight

top one =speakers
bottom=backlight Backlight fused believed to be labeled "FB"

if you have the time you could check to see if the fuse has continuity with a meter also take photos and verify the location I plan on taking apart my slim again and doing so when i get a chance just thought i share this with you in case you want to give it a look see

Yeah the right one is still dead, but it's just the right one. The left is loud as it ever was so i don't think it's the fuse. I'll check anyways though, it'll give a reason to wipe the dust off of my oscilloscope. The speaker looks fine; the wires are snug in the connector, the speaker has no visible flaws, and the solder joints look fine. I'm fine with one speaker, It's just one of those 'hey I need something to kill time' sorta things.

Maybe I cut a trace on the motherboard now that I think of it...

When popping the LCD out one time, the screwdriver did slip under and make a scratching noise. I'll have to look into that as well.

will it start up in recovery mode ?

hold right trigger while starting psp see if that gets you in to recovery mode
can you see menu

also seems simple try pressing the screen button on the start bar near the volume /home

so to be clear

1.your theme was flashed before you updated
2.you updated from 4.01 m33-2 to 5.00 m33 no problems theme worked and you could play games
3. turned it off etc and turned it back on and now you cant see screen but here sound

like i said i think that it maybe a software issue unsure and because of that i cant honestly lean towards saying the backlight fuse is blown

not sure but do believe the wrong theme firmware flashed to psp may cause semibrick
but you say you hear sound so i wont lean towards that

either
1.theme issue
2.backlight

you could post in the help not the hardware repair and also ask some one in the custom theme section if the conclusion is it is not the them then i will help you bridge the backlight fuse
