The update folder goes to X:/PSP/GAME. Download the 3.71 EBOOT, extract to the desktop and rename it to '371.PBP'. Move that to X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE. And now, just launch it from the XMB and it will work.

TIPS:

Quote:
-All of your keys need to be in proper unmodified configuration. The 3.71 M33 installer will check this before you boot to the Sony updater. It's not guaranteed that it will work all of the time. Download Keycleaner and run it on your PSP, and it will unpatch most of those keys.

-Charge the battery to a level past 78% or neither of the installers will launch. You will recieve an error with the installer, and the Sony installer will fail to start.

-After you upgrade, press X/0 to reboot. Do this any other way, and you will brick your PSP. (It's your fault for not reading the readme in the first place. The warning is in there)

-The 'EBOOT.PBP' from the 3.71 M33 installer is different from the 3.71 UPDATE EBOOT. You cannot move the 3.71 UPDATE to X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE before you rename it. You must rename it to what it needs to be ('371.PBP') or you will overwrite the file that is needed to launch the installers.

-After you upgrade, you will need to upgrade to 3.71 M33-4 to bring out the latest updates, and have all of those bugs fixed..

http://www.dark-alex.org/m33update4.zip - 3.71 M33 POPS

Of course, if you want, you can upgrade to 3.80 M33. The same instructions apply for installation of 3.71 M33. Instead of downloading the 3.71 UPDATE, download the 3.80 UPDATE, and rename it to '380.PBP' and move to X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE..

You must be on custom firmware to play ISOs off your MS, or the computer. If you meant to say 3.80 m33, boot to the XMB, and press select. Go down to 'UMD ISO MODE' and press right to 'Sony NP9660'. Press SELECT again and launch your ISO again.

And if you did say 3.80, you will have to downgrade your firmware and then reupgrade to custom firmware. You will need Pandora's Battery and this is the only way. SEARCH for tutorials, etc...

Finally, got the 1.50 kernel addon installation for 3.80 M33 right. Read below.

I haven't made the easy installers for 3.80 M33-4 yet. With so many updates, by time I get off my lazy behind and do something, a new update will be released. Of course, I'll keep all of you guys updated, and I'll be here to help out with installation troubles.

Added some more notes to the 3.80 M33 Network Update feature. It will only search for MANDATORY updates that only applies to the CFW itself. (3.80 M33-2, M33-3, M33-4, etc.) It will not check for 1.50 kernel addon/POPS/plugins, etc..

bcman - Links, done...
I quoted myself.. :D Anyways, updates for today..

Hi,

Just updated to 3.80 M33-4 and installed the 1.50 kernel addon.
Play Pro Evo Soccer with mates mostly, however since the update the wireless multiplayer has become so slugish that it's unplayable.
It was working fine at 3.71 M33-4 (updated from this to 3.80 M33 then update 4)
I can run the game though an old devhook version, and the gameplay does not slow down, but cannot load the gamesaves (100's of hours of stats lost!)
Any ideas?

Thanks.

PS. I've tried running at 333MHz. No change.

Try restoring the default settings, and try formatting flash1.

NP9660 Loader Issues on 3.80 M33. File(s) responsible on this loader are compressed. You can fix this by flashing a resolved 3.71 NP9660 file to your 3.80 M33 flash. Do this cause a chain on other files in which you will have to fix later. If you have a tutorial to do this, post it here. It will be greatly appreciated.. Also, hope that DAX can catch up on this, and release it in another update for 3.80 M33.

Another change Sony made was in the np9660 file which runs ISOs from the memory stick. In 3.80, it is slower than the M33 driver, which M33 wrote themselves.

These two combined problems cause serious issues on 3.80, creating the following issues:
- Certain memory cards will be totally unreadable until formatted
- In most cases, memory card access is slowed down considerably
- ISOs will lag or appear to be running slowly, CSOs are even worse
- SaveData is sometimes impossible to load or save and the Saved Data Utility will sometimes be totally blank
- Homebrew is lagged considerably, such as ROM loading
- On certain memory cards, plugins will not load
- Homebrew and ISOs tend to crash on exit

USB access has not been affected, as these drivers haven't changed.

A possible solution is to replace fatmsmod.prx and np9660.prx with the 3.71 versions. This will not work without modifying the files as their imports must be edited to match the new NIDs in 3.80 (NidResolver does not resolve most 3.71 NIDs, especially kernel ones used by these files).
This would also make galaxy.prx (np9660 patcher) incompatible, so it's offsets would have to be changed.

I've removed the results people have given me, the results were too varied, but to summarise the worst affected card was the SanDisk 4GB followed by the Sony 4GB. Don't be surprised if you have issues on 3.80.

After collecting a lot of info and hearing a lot of stories, it looks like formatting it in the PSP under 3.80 usually fixes it. The firmware should automatically format 4GB+ sticks to FAT32, which is better than formatting via Windows which caused slowdown even on old firmwares.

Even then, some memory sticks report slowdown with certain ISOs, this can sometimes be fixed by using the M33 driver as explained above.

Hopefully Sony can get their act together by the time the Skype firmware is released - 3.81, 3.90 or whatever it's name is.

These problems affect the Slim and the Standard PSP.

Redownload the 3.71 UPDATE EBOOT. It probably hasn't transferred all the way, or the PC hasn't updated the MS changelog. After transfer, wait 15-30 seconds for the changelog to update, and then try again.

Also, the update folder goes to X:/PSP/GAME
The 3.71 UPDATE must be renamed to '371.PBP' and move to X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE..
Run under 3.xx kernel ;)

1/19/08 - UPDATE!!

Popsloader section explained. I finally found out how to use popsloader from other versions. Pretty stupid that I only found out now, but we can't know everything at one time can we? Anyways, the whole section is explained as far as installation goes. Correct me if I was wrong along the lines..

Thanks Demonchild,

I tried restoring default settings, formatting flash1 and memory stick, but still have the slow down problem.
I won't try the 'replace fatmsmod.prx and np9660.prx with the 3.71 versions' as I don't know what or how to modify the files, or what else will be affected.
I'll wait until someone puts out a guide or an update fix.

Thanks anyway

My psp currently runs 3.52 m33-4 and I'm trying to update to 3.71 to update to 3.80. I used the noob proof installer, worked as usual, the installer appeared in my games section on my PSP.

I run it, it just goes to a black screen saying "this program requires 3.52 m33-3 or higher". Thing is, I have 3.52 m33-4, it even says so in my system info. Any ideas what the problem could be, or a solution?

You can go straight from 3.52 M33 to 3.80 M33.

Boot into recovery, and change kernel so it uses the 3.52 kernel..
