Question I bought a PSP from ebay, but.. does it already have custom firmware??

Hi Guys,

I just bought a second hand PSP (Fat, you know the first ones) from ebay. I was unsure about using custom firmware, as I admittedly do not know a lot about it and how it works, but I just love the idea of having a Game Boy Advanced Emulator on the PSP, so I can play classic GBA games on it.

I started reading through forums/ect to try and find out more information about the steps I need to take in order to be able to put a GBA emu onto the PSP. One post asked what version firmware does it have, so I checked mine and it reads System Software: 5.00 M33-4, now is this already custom firmware?

It still plays UMD's that I've tried and it came with 32mb Memory Card, is this big enough if I want an Emulator on it?

It also says "Pandora" under the Nickname, I've heard of Pandora Batteries, but, again, I do not know what they are, what they do or how they work. Does this mean that I do have one? Or is it just what the previous owner decided to call his PSP?

If I already do have custom firmware, is it one that I can download a GBA emu onto it and roms? Can anyone recommend a good GBA emulator and how do you install them onto PSP's?

What are the other capabilities of the type of custom firmware? for example, am I able to download games from Bittorrent sites with it? not sure if I would do that, but it's good to know.

Thanks for taking the time to read my questions and Thanks in advance for any replies that I recieve.

1. I suggest you to upgrade to 5.00m33-6 as it fixes bugs from previous version. http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1646
2. 32mb is enough for SOME roms. Roms size range is about 4mb - 32mb, depending on what games. Emulator http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1594
3. The 'Pandora' under your nickname is just a nickname.
4. As for what is pandora battery. Read this http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/f127...y-faq-t190752/
