Default "Firmware not supported please turn off PsP"

So I just upgraded my firmware from 4.01 MM33 to 5.50 Gen A in hopes to get it to Gen D2 but I've hit a wall. After upgrading to Gen A whenever my PsP turns on it comes up with the message "Firmware not supported please turn off PsP". Now I have no idea how to fix this and if this means upgrading is impossible for me. I can still get into Recovery Mode, but I don't know what to do at this point. Could someone help? Thanks.

Reboot into recovery, go to Configuration > Game Folder Homebrew. Press X to make it say 4.01 kernel. Exit out of recovery and you're good to go.

You can update straight to 5.50 GEN-D, there's no need to go through 5.50 GEN-A.

5.50 GEN-D

5.50 GEN-D2

It a good idea to have "Hide extensions for known file types" in Folder Options(under Tool) unchecked (turn on extensions)

I know that, but I got stuck at Gen A because I needed to upgrade to that firmware before I could even touch any of the others. After upgrading from 4.01 M33 to 5.50 Gen A I got that message, not by upgrading A to D2.

I think I found my problem. Apparently the patcher is upgrading my PsP phat with PsP slim firmware as I was able to continue upgrading by removing my memory card first then putting it back in after boot up. Is there a way to get the Phat firmware alone without it installing the silm firmware again? (It calls my PsP a PsP2000 version, which apparently is silm only so it uses that)

well, i think something is spoofing it to make it think its a 2000, or a corrupted update..

you could reflash your previous firmware with recovery flasher, if the kernel is working fine..

I just tried using the recovery flasher and every firmware I tried failed. I also noticed that even this program believed my PsP Phat is a Slim which makes no sense at all. I honestly don't want to wipe the whole memory stick as I no longer have the Pandora battery to hack it again. Is there nothing at this point I could do?

Everything works fine as long as I remove the memory card every time it boots up again, but I don't want to have to do that. On top of that I thing it isn't running to its full ability because videos are now all skipy and messed up.

Use this and inject a custom IPL so your Pandora Battery can boot properly.
