About to make my first psp purchase and got a few questions

hey guys i was wondering if i go to the store and buy a brand new psp-3000 whats going to be the default firmware that is going to come with it? Is it possible to check on the box what version it is? If I buy it and it is higher than 5.03 is it still possible to get chickhen + cfwenabler on it? Would it be better if i head to gamestop and buy a used 2000 instead? If i get a 2000 and firmware is still higher than 5.03 is it possible to downgrade a 2000? Im sorry if any of these questions have been answered but i would love to buy my psp today and dont have time lookin through the forums. thanks guys
