I figure 5.50 gen-b is pretty good considering I've managed to get everything else to work PSPUAE and a couple other programs I have that require 1.5. Anyway, so this PSPexult, which ran fine with the 1.5 kernel on 5.00 m33 just does not work whatsoever with this firmware. I've tried LEDA to no avail as well as eloader. So I figured I'd give time machine a whirl... I installed Time Machine. I dropped the 150.pbp in the root of my memory stick and then ran the program for it to shoot everything into place. I made it all the way up to the point I needed my Pandora's battery to boot back into 150, so I picked up my old Pandora's tool that I originally used 2 years ago to start using CFW in the first place. Turns out the shelf life isn't so great on the after market batteries. This leads me to my problem: I decided not a problem, I'll just use the VSH (or recovery menu) to convert my battery to pandora, just so I can use it for what I need, then switch it back whenever I needed it. I've read up, watched videos, searched forums, seems simple enough... Much simpler than the trash that we had to go through originally to get this stuff to work. Not surprising (with my luck) I hit select and bring up the vsh. I scroll down to make pandora battery and it does absolutely nothing. I've seen where guys say there is an option in advanced that says "make pandora battery" and "make normal battery" but that option is no where to be found. I've been tinkering with this for days and typically with this stuff I've usually reached a break through by now. I'm at a loss. Any idea what is going on with my options and or how to fix them, all the while avoiding the old fashioned way? I'm running a PSP-1001 with a TA-79 motherboard. Also sorry if I sound a bit bitter but honestly... is this easier than an old fashioned kernel option? I feel like I might as well have a 2000+ with 64mb of ram if I'm going to go through this much trouble to get something very simple to work. ![]() Edit: Just upgraded to Gen B2, still nada. Try using Ultimate VSH Menu. It give you a ton more options.
When I asked someone why there was no 1.50 kernel I was told it was because all the useful stuff was upgraded to the 3.xx kernel. I thought I was the only one who was missing the old stuff that didn't get upgraded. If you can find the source code for the app you want out on the internet somewhere then link it here and maybe I can figure out how to compile it for 3.xx kernel (we're on the 5.xx kernel now of course, but the hierarchy of it is similar to the 3.xx so the homebrew still works for us).

Also any reason why the regular option for "make pandora battery" isn't working at all? Is this common? I've seen a lot questions about this but not much in the way of answers. Last but not least source code! I'm not sure how much you know about Exult but its a Ultima 7 engine remake. There is actually a 2.2 version that utilizes the 64mb of ram and will not run right on a 1000 (32mb). Version 2.1 works on the phat with 32mb, which doesn't work on the 2000+, but the guy that made the program said that they had lost the original source codes to version 2.1 and that they also didn't intend on making another playable version on the phat... I'm hitting a wall in just about every way with this one. Ironically trying to get ExultPSP (Ultima 7) to work with this system and version is just about as difficult as trying to get an Origin game to run on EMS on an old 486. ![]() Edit: Ok just an update, I did get VSH to work but still not luck with the battery conversion... Maybe its older batteries that don't work right? Maybe it needs to be at 100% charge? Last edited by Cobalt; 02-09-2010 at 01:38 AM. |

That really sucks that the source code is lost for the game... So there's not much we can do about bringing that game up to speed without the 1.50 kernel ![]() Edit: This explains why there's no kernel addon for 5.50 GEN: http://www.consolespot.net/forums/ge...d-5-50gen.html It's because they didn't want some other people to steal it because someone had been stealing Team GEN's code to make their own version of CFW. Basically their just being pissy because someone stole something. Its either that or they needed DA's code in order to make their own and since he's no longer doing PSP stuff they couldn't get one from him.

That also sucks about the kernel being more or less politics. :^\ BTW thanks for the help. |

That's what I'm here for. If you get it working let me know. If you have any other questions let me know. I'm not sure exactly how I can get it to work for you but if you get an idea and want to run it by my then I can offer my advice.

Good news, or better news anyway. The Battery is pandoraized, light goes green when I put it in, but its not comming up with anything so I think I may need to reformat the MMS.

Are you holding down L as you put in the battery? At least it's L with my pandora battery, maybe Time Machine works differently..

Basically once it was charged it went from the black screen to the normal maintenance mode that a pandora battery will boot into. So what I did was I reformatted the MMS and only put the files on it that I needed to make it boot into 1.50 ofw. To answer your question for time machine you hold down X to get it to boot up and it booted right into 1.50! Next step was to see if exult worked... It booted right up no problem. I feel like I'm going to shed tears. lolWhat's cool about it is I can keep the battery in pandora mode and use the 1 gig stick (1.5) to boot into that and use my 4 gig stick for everything else and since my 4 gig isn't formatted to be recognized by the pandora battery it just boots into plain old gen! ![]() Again I really appreciate the assistance. I'v been on this computer since about 6 this evening I think and its now 20 till 4am. Until next time.
