Hey guys! im new here but i figured how to get a way clear psp background! ignore the background requirements of minimal specs enforced by the site's background section. the psp's proper setting is 480x272 at 24-bit color depth. so if you are luckey enough to have photoshop. just find a pic you like open it up and then open a new palate at specs 480x272. Cut the section of the pic you like and paste it in place
:-). finally save it as .bmp and set it as a background. with the minimal spec setting here on the site, the psp struggles to display them clearly. with the proper resolution setting of 480x272 it will display clearly and beautifully at 100% clarity.

Thats because the pics here are for 1.5, NOT 2.0+. Backgrounds for 1.5 have to be 300 x 170[/u]

Thats where you're partially wrong dookie, I have successfully used the pspset to change my BG for nov on my 1.5 to a 400x272 bmp image, but that fucks up some of the system icons, they only show a white box and when you connect it to a comp it freezes the comp lol. But other than that, its possible, but I suggest to stick with 300x170 for 1.5 =P

Well i know you can use bigger pics, but thats why i said 300 x 170, cause then the icons dont work well if you go higher than that

yer, the psp works in a similar way to dos did. it just runs out of free memory if the bmp is larger than 150k, and hense cant load the icons.

i have noticed though, even keeping the image to around 130-145k it seems to make the psp run out of memory when trying to load apps.

i had this problem on mine, all my emulators stopped working when i placed a custom background on.
spent ages fiddling to find out what was going on, until i replaced the background with the default poo-brown image.

then everything worked again..

wierd.. makes 2.0 look slightly nicer.. too bad about the lack of brew.
