Ok now that my Sectional Expert Powers have been sorted out, its time for me to put them to good use. Ive noticed in the short time ive been here that members at times post links to binary files (Binary being executables and dll's), and i think this could be risky. Someone could very easily post a malicious application to harm our members...SOOO ive desided to invoke this little safety precaution.
When a binary file IS posted by someone who is not a member of the moderating or administration team it must be considered "Run at your own risk", myself and PSP-Hacks.Com will NOT be held responsible for any damage that could possibly arise from running it. However every post i see with an attached binary file i will personally check with several antivirus applications using the "Online malware scan" by Jotti. This system will scan a file and compute its MD5 (its unique signature) and then process it through over 10 antivirus applications (including NOD32, Symantec and Kaspersky to name a few). I will post the results in the thread in which the binary file has been posted, if for some reason i feel it is not safe i will remove the link to the file and make out a report to the admins about what should be done to the offending poster. If the file is deemed safe i will post a message with the following format: ***CHERNOBYL APPROVED*** ![]() File Name: blahblah.rar File Link: http://www.website.com/blahblah.rar File MD5: My Notes: "I feel this file is safe." Now please remember that just because i feel its safe doesnt mean it is 100% since i cant see its source code to know exactly how it works, however if you see my Badge of Approval then you can be sure its atleast safe enough not to ruin your pc on execution :mrgreenthumbsup: NOTE: If at a later date your antivirus application picks up the file as dangerous i will reinvestigate :) Also feel free to PM me if you feel a file seems sus or what not. |
